At the Kentucky Association of County Agriculture Agents (KACAA) yearly meeting at Natural Bridge State Park, Larry Young was awarded the Lay Leader Award and became an Honorary County Extension Agent. Larry's passion for bees and teaching the craft of beekeeping is unmatched. We are so proud to have him as a part of our Extension Family here in Powell County.
Congratulations on a well-deserved honor Larry.

We had some visitors from Bowen Elementary School today!
Bowen 5th grade students participated in Recipes for Life, a cooking and nutrition program. Students took a day long field-trip to the Extension Office where they learned about food safety, kitchen safety, knife skills, measurement conversion, reading recipes, and other aspects of food preparation before getting to cook for themselves.
We prepared a five course meal of tomato bruschetta, pork meatballs, honey butter corn, chopped salad with homemade ranch dressing, and very berry salsa. Students then came together to eat their meal as a group.
Thank you to our wonderful community partners for their time and support!
