🌱 Do you need a new tool to fight the war on weeds in your garden?

Tuesday night is your chance!

Local gardeners have spent the summer putting a variety of unique garden tools to the test—and now they're ready to share what they’ve learned.

Come see the tools in action, hear what local gardeners think, and learn whether one of these tools might make your time in the garden a little easier.

🎉 And the best part?

Every attendee will be entered into a raffle to win one of the tools at the end of the night!

10 folks will leave with a new, unique garden tool.

Come learn. Come try the tools. Maybe leave with a new favorite garden tool!

Attention Seniors with voucher cards, join us this Thursday, August 6th in Clay City or Saturday, August 8th in Stanton for our first Double Dollars day. Be sure to check in with the extension office to get your coupons.

We are working on getting the County Fair Book distributed in a couple of weeks! In the meantime, here are the Exhibit Entry Divisions and Classes for those who plan on participating.

The Powell County Extension Office will be issuing vouchers from this year's Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program TOMORROW on Wednesday, July 22nd between 9am and 4pm WHILE SUPPLIES LAST.

ELIGIBILITY FOR PARTICIPANTS:
Age: 60+ at day of issuance. Must provide proof of age.
Income: Provide proof of income and meet the income criteria (which is less than or equal to 185% of the poverty level).

Please note that vouchers are limited and will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. A voucher is not guaranteed regardless of eligibility or attendance.

CAIP and YAIP Applications will be available at the Housing Authority of Stanton.
The application period is: July 28 through August 18, 2026. No applications will be accepted before July 28 or after August 18. Applications can be picked up and dropped off at the Housing Authority of Stanton at 0 A Street, Brad Lee Court.

If you have a hobby you'd like to turn into a business, the Powell County Farmers' Market is a great place to get started.

After more than 8 years of serving Powell County as the Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent, Kendyl Redding will be transitioning to a new role with UK Health and Wellness.

During her time with Powell County Extension, Kendyl has impacted countless individuals and families through educational programs focused on nutrition, health and wellness, financial management, sewing, youth development, and family well-being. Her dedication to the community and commitment to improving the lives of others have made a lasting impact.

Please join us in congratulating Kendyl on this exciting new opportunity and thanking her for her years of dedicated service to Powell County. If you'd like to wish her well in person, stop by the Powell County Extension Office on Monday, June 30, to say goodbye before she begins her new role.
