PRAYING ON MORRIS CREEK FRIDAY JUNE 19, 2026
After praying, I was thinking of the song, “Peace like a river.” Peace gently flowing Sweet and divine. Gives assurance Jesus is mine. Peace like a river so gently is flowing, how sweet to my soul is this marvelous peace, Sweeter and sweeter each day it is growing, like billows of glory it never shall cease. Filled with the Sprit I am so glad, happy and glad. Jesus has given, sweetly has given, wonderful peace. Glory forever to Jesus my Savior, for wonderful, marvelous, heavenly peace, Peace overflowing, much sweeter is growing, what wonderful, wonderful peace The river simply finds a way to go around or over obstacles. It just keeps flowing. So when I think of peace like a river, I think of peace as something that can be continually flowing in our lives despite our circumstances or the obstacles that may get in our path. Isaiah 48:18 O that thou had hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: Rivers are a beautiful thing to watch and be near. Some rivers have fast flowing water, while others are slow-moving. In either case, the water is still moving and changing all the time. As it flows, the water moves the bad stuff out, while bring in fresh clean water. Looking closely at a river, one will usually see a lot of life in it and around it. Fish will be swimming in the water. Animals will be near it to drink of its refreshing water. Trees and other plants will surround the edges. All of these things show peace and harmony on the river. People go to rivers for this peace. Many are looking for peace in this world. There are even believers who sometimes wonder where the peace of God is in their own lives. Knowing and obeying God’s commands will bring about that same peace and harmony. Not following God’s commands is sinning against Him. When there is sin in your life, there is a separation between you and God. When there is separation, you will not have the peace that He is wanting to provide you. This passage often used in times of strife, stress, or struggle comes from the Apostle Paul’s letter to the early church in Philippi. As he winds the letter to a close, Paul writes, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4: 6-7. The notion of God’s peace being able to guard and protect us can be a welcome balm for our troubled souls. Some translations of the Bible use the word “surpass” in place of “transcend,” but the meaning is much the same. God’s peace is so great we cannot possibly comprehend its fullness, so great it overshadows even the mightiest of concerns. But what is the peace that surpasses all understanding? And how can we get that peace? What Does Peace Mean in This Passage? It means. “one, peace, quietness, or rest. it’s a giving over, a blissfully relaxing, much like the carefree sleep of a child who has no worries because all their concerns are handled. Peace can often be translated with a militaristic perspective in mind, such as the absence of human conflict or battles, but here it’s used more in reference to a state of mind, means “to join,” as in a state of harmony and connection. For Paul’s intended audience, people often torn apart by religious persecution and cultural strife, the concept of peace is a desirable one. What Does ‘Surpasses All Understanding’ Mean? is translated to mean “surpasses all understanding version which means over, or beyond) according to Strong’s Concordance — basically, “to hold above, to rise above, to be superior.” Many search for peace, influential country leaders say that they desire peace, but they pursue peace only in words and actions that do not seek the One who holds the key to real peace. So what is real peace? Jesus Christ is called the “Prince of Peace,” and the stories in the Bible make it very clear that He came to this earth to save us, redeem us and reveal His Eternal Kingdom in which His peace will reign forever. At one of the key moments in Jesus’ ministry, He pronounces to His disciples: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid (John 14:27. Jesus clearly states that His peace is not like the peace that the world gives. The peace Jesus is talking about is a peace that surpasses all understanding, that we receive through grace when we have repented and put our trust in Him. However, at the time Jesus said this, the full revelation of the gospel had not yet been completed by His atoning work. The disciples were most likely troubled because Jesus said He was about to leave this world, and they feared the unknown. So when they heard this statement, it was disheartening to say the least. Jesus then says to them: I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world John 16:33 As the apostle Paul states in his writing in Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. The only peace that satisfies, gives us peace of mind, and allows us to rest in Him, is that which Jesus gives. Jesus knew that the disciples would go through tribulations, but He wanted them to “take heart” because he had “overcome the world.” These words are very encouraging to me, especially in those moments when there is much confusion and chaos and life feels overwhelming. Jesus is the “Prince of Peace” and the one who holds the key to what that peace truly means. Many around the world are finding this everlasting peace even in hostile environments. I hope that you too can find the peace and refuge in God amidst tribulations and chaos of this life.
PRAYING ON MORRIS CREEK THURSDAY JUNE 18, 2026
After prayer, I began to focus on Romans 8:1-5. I remember Many years ago as a teenager during a camp meeting break here in Stanton, Ky. I was standing by an older person whom our family loved. she said in reply when someone asked she how was she and the Lord getting along. Her reply was. About half and half. Ernest Tubbs & His Texas Troubadours – 1977 Sang a song; HALF MY HEART'S IN Texas, But now Half My Heart’s In Texas and the other half in Tennessee. Half My Heart’s In Texas that’s the part that went with you. Tennessee’s got part of me but Lord what can I do If half of me is missin’ how much of me is free. With half my heart in Texas and the other half in Tennessee. I thought of this song title even though I didn’t know anything about the song or who wrote it. Thanks to the internet. I was able to find more words than the title. Moses was faced with a people who were like minded. Half their heart was in Cannon’s Land, and the other half was back in EGYPT…. (ROMANS 8:1-5 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. As I continue to grow and mature in life and in the Lord, I have discovered that in order to achieve success, or attain a goal, you must have a fixed mind. In planning a brighter tomorrow, you must anticipate the many pitfalls and potholes that you have to encounter on the road of life. I’ve also learned that anything that is worthwhile is bound to be a bitter battle. The higher the hill upon which you plan to build your castle, the harder the climb is to reach its top. To reach the top, you must have your eyes and your mind focused on the same thing. A focused individual is one who aims well at the target and pulls his bow of opportunity to the final stretch before letting his arrow of destiny fly. The text informs us that Israel was in the wilderness on their way to Canaan. But they had begun to face some very bitter experiences along the way. The ghosts of hunger and thirst had raised their heads, and frightened them. They were frightened to the extent that they began to think about the times when they use to sit by the flesh pots of Egypt, and sing and eat. They became discouraged before they had hardly gotten started. They had been on the road only a few days and a few miles from Sinai. But yet, because they had missed a meal of two, they wanted to go back to the slave camps of Egypt.! They crossed the Red sea on dry ground, God destroyed their enemy and yet they complained. They wanted to go back to making brick from mud-balls. Just to eat again from flesh pots. They wanted to sell their future for a bite to eat. Seeing that freedom was quite a costly venture, they feared to pay the price. They had their eyes on Canaan, but their minds were on Egypt...! They looked one way and thought another. They talked freedom, but thought slavery. They started out watching God as He beckoned them through the clouds by day and the fire by night. But at the same time they held on to Pharaoh’s hand…! Canaan and Egypt were in the same valley but in extreme opposite directions. To reach one, you had to turn your back on the other. To think about Egypt, their minds would have to trek across the burning desert sands, where the jackals hide and bark, back across the sea, where slime and slavery holds sway. But to think of Canaan, their minds would have to lift amidst the hills, twine and bend. Among the cedars and the whispering pines. Canaan or Egypt. Freedom in Canaan, slavery in Egypt...They were halted between the call of chains and the call of wings. Chains to hold them to their past, but wings to lift them to new heights. Chains of slavery or wings of freedom...! Both places pointed in different directions, they were at opposite ends of any journey. And when the test came, Israel dared to face it. She would rather go back into bo***ge than to pay the price of victory. Memories are good to have It’s good to reminisce, but I want to let you know that you can’t progress by living in the past. We can never move forward, if we keep looking backwards. The Lord has been constantly proving Himself to us, taking us through dangers seen and unseen. Yet every time He tries to take us to the next level, we stand there looking over our shoulder in retrospect, contemplating the past! And as you began to move concerning that specific issue, you encounter roadblocks that the enemy has designed to delay, deter, detain, discourage and derail your progression. And instead of you trusting in the One who gave you the ability to move in the first place, you suddenly get a case of the “could’ve, should’ve, would’ve’s…! I could’ve… I should’ve… If I only would’ve…” Israel was so concerned with eating from the flesh pots of Pharaoh, that they were willing to give up an entire land flowing with milk and honey! Likewise, we get so caught up in our yesterdays that we can never get to our tomorrow’s…! The Lord is offering us eternal happiness, eternal peace, and eternal life, if we would just turn our minds as well as our hearts to Him… If we would just stop allowing the enemy to convince us to return to the things that God has already brought us out of….! You see that’s the real problem … Although God has delivered us, we really haven’t come out of the world. God has brought you out of Egypt but you still can’t progress because although He’s brought you out of it, you haven’t brought it out of you!!! (You missed it…!) God has delivered you from chasing women, but you’re still walking around thinking you’re Mack-Daddy Holding on to your black book…! Although He’s delivered you from gossiping, you’re still trying to get up in everybody else’s business… Stirring up trouble…! Although He’s delivered you from debt, you’re still robbing Peter to pay Paul…Living from paycheck to paycheck…! Why…? Because your mind has not accepted the fact that God has brought you out… So you continue to long for what you left in Egypt and until you change your thinking…Until you change your mindset. Until you change your focus. You’ll never be able to enter the Promise Land…! The Word of God says that we have to be transformed by the renewing of our mind.
PRAYING ON MORRIS CREEK WEDNESDAY JUNE 17, 2026
To you my Friends: I am asking you the most important question of life. Your joy or your sorrow for all eternity depends upon your answer. The question is: Are you saved? It is not a question of how good you are, nor if you are a church member, but are you saved? Are you sure you will go to Heaven when you die? God says in order to go to Heaven, you must be born again. In John 3:7, Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Ye must be born again. In the Bible God gives us the plan of how to be born again which means to be saved. His plan is simple! You can be saved today. How? First, my friend, you must realize you are a sinner. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Because you are a sinner, you are condemned to death. “For the wages [payment] of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). This includes eternal separation from God in Hell. “. . . it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). But God loved you so much He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, to bear your sin and die in your place. “. . . He hath made Him [Jesus, who knew no sin] to be sin for us . . . that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus had to shed His blood and die. “For the life of the flesh is in the blood” (Lev. 17:11). “. . . without shedding of blood is no remission [pardon]” (Hebrews 9:22). “. . . God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Although we cannot understand how, God said my sins and your sins were laid upon Jesus and He died in our place. He became our substitute. It is true. God cannot lie. My friend, “God . . . commanded all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30). This repentance is a change of mind that agrees with God that one is a sinner, and also agrees with what Jesus did for us on the Cross. In Acts 16:30-31, the Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas: “. . . ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ And they said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved . . .. Simply believe on Him as the one who bore your sin, died in your place, was buried, and whom God resurrected. His resurrection powerfully assures that the believer can claim everlasting life when Jesus is received as Savior. “But as many as received Him, to them gave The power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name” (John 1:12). “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13). Whosoever includes you. Shall be saved means not maybe, nor can, but shall be saved. Surely, you realize you are a sinner. Right now, wherever you are, repenting, lift your heart to God in prayer. In Luke 18:13, the sinner prayed: “God be merciful to me a sinner.” Just pray: “Oh God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus was my substitute when He died on the Cross. I believe His shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection were for me. I now receive Him as my Savior. I thank You for the forgiveness of my sins, the gift of salvation and everlasting life, because of Your merciful grace. Amen.” Just take God at His word and claim His salvation by faith. Believe, and you will be saved. No church, no lodge, no good works can save you. Remember, God does the saving. All of it! God’s simple plan of salvation is: You are a sinner. Therefore, unless you believe on Jesus Who died in your place, you will spend eternity in Hell. If you believe on Him as your crucified, buried, and risen Savior, you receive forgiveness for all of your sins and His gift of eternal salvation by faith. You say, “Surely, it cannot be that simple.” Yes, that simple! It is scriptural. It is God’s plan. My friend, believe on Jesus and receive Him as Savior today. If His plan is not perfectly clear, think of this over and over, without laying it down, until you understand it. Your soul is worth more than all the world. “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36). Be sure you are saved. If you lose your soul, you miss Heaven and lose all. Please! Let God save you this very moment. God’s power will save you, keep you saved, and enable you to live a victorious Christian life. “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13). Do not trust your feelings. They change. Stand on God’s promises. They never change. After you are saved, there are three things to practice daily for spiritual growth: REMEMBER: When you Pray -- you talk to God. Read your Bible -- God talks to you. Witness -- you talk for God. You should be baptized in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ as a public testimony of your salvation, and then unite with a Bible-believing church without delay. “Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord . . ..” (2 Timothy 1:8) “Whosoever therefore shall confess [testify of] Me before men, him will I confess also before My Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32). Will you accept him now? PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT AND SHARE THIS POST. It may be the only way you can be the cause of someone finding Jesus.
PRAYING ON MORRIS CREEK TUESDAY JUNE 16, 2026
After I had about finished my prayer time this morning, I was thinking this is not a “One Man Army,” Millions of saints are fighting in the same battle we are. Yes, there is a war going on between good and evil. It started in heaven when Lucifer got conceited about himself and wanted to be in control. Some of the angels liked his style and began to follow him. Of course God being all powerful kicked him and his followers out of heaven. The war didn’t end there, the devil showed up in the Garden of Eden on a recruiting trip. You have to remember, the battle is not yours, it is the Lord's. Stand still and see the salvation of God. That doesn't mean you literally stand still and do nothing. It's a posture of hope, believing and taking God at His Word no matter what the reports or circumstances look like. Then it’s time to enter your territory your closet and shut the door, that’s where your victories are won. Did you know that the Eagle will not fight a snake in his territory on the ground? The Eagle will sn**ch him off the ground flying high into the air, taking away his strength of power to striking at the Eagle. We must not fight our battles in the enemy’s territory but take to our prayer closet where God takes control Eagles are probably the most admired and respected Bird in Its species. Almost anywhere in the world that you find eagles. You will find laws that have been passed to protect them from destruction at the hands of humans. The Eagles have been placed on the endangered species list.
The National Wild Life Society has spent millions of dollars each year trying to preserve the life of the Eagle. I Think, it is one of the most beautiful creatures that God made. I love to watch it soar and dip down and catch a fish and never break its rank. It graciously begins to work its wings and flies back to its rock and feeds its young. A few months ago while going from my home to Stanton. I had just crossed the Red River bridge, when something caught my attention. On the right side of the road out in the field was a large Eagle. I went on to where I could turn around and went back and took some pictures. I feel like the Lord was sort of proud of His creation too. Because He uses it so much in illustrations as He calls attention to the abilities and character of the great Eagle. DWELLING AND ABIDING ON THE ROCK. Job 39:27 Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high? Job 39:28 She dwells and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place. Job 39:29 From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.
They that wait upon the Lord: Isaiah 40:25 To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. Isaiah 40:26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth. Isaiah 40:27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God? Isaiah 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. Isaiah 40:29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Isaiah 40:30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. The Eagle soars 80% of the time and works its wings 20% of the time. I believe that it is God’s plan that we as Christians would learn to soar as Eagles. I believe that God does not want us to sit around with a beaten down attitude of defeat and depression. This morning I want to talk about two things. The flea and the Eagle. The Eagle is the largest bird of it species. With a wingspread of up to 7 ½ feet. An Eagle can fly at speeds of over 100 MPH. The term Eagle or Eagles is mentioned 30 times in the bible. An eagle does not fight a snake on the ground. It picks it up and changes grounds, then releases it back to the ground. A snake has no stamina, no power, no balance in the air. It is useless, weak and vulnerable unlike on the ground where it is deadly, wise and powerful. Take your fight to the spirit realm and when you are in the spiritual realm God takes charge. Don't fight in the physical realm change grounds like an eagle. You will be assured of a clean victory. Now we have already learned that the Eagles are flying creatures. An Eagle has a hard time trying to run because they will wobble and fall. Why is this with the Eagle? Because they were designed to fly. It’s impossible for a flea to get on a flying bird It’s when they are siting or walking around in an idle state that the flea can jump on him. So, I guess I’m saying “Don’t sit Idle” if you do you will get flea bitten. First thing you know, there you sit, scratching and annoying everyone with you and your actions and irritating noises. There is one thing for certain, you cannot soar like an eagle and scratch for fleas. I will be praying that you will have a wonderful day in the Lord, and for those of you who are sick etc. Remember: the battle is not yours, it is the Lord's.
