It was a great blessing to host these wonderful young folks in Standish last week! There’s a long history of summer events for Maine Catholic teenagers on the Saint Joseph's College of Maine campus, extending at least to the 1990s. The last time an event like this was held on the SJC campus was 2019. “TO THE HEIGHTS!”

A powerful meditation from today’s Magnificat magazine: “Radical dependence on the Father and obedience to Him enabled Him to accomplish marvelously bold and vibrant things that are the opposite of limp indifference. …Christian dependence on God produces attitudes and deeds of freedom, while most often the so-called ‘successful’ people of this world labor under a slavery that puts glum looks on their faces and makes them prisoners of apathy. …The basis of our liberation must be found in our learning how to turn to the Father with Jesus…with great joy coming from humility and the recognition that, before God, we must be nothing other than babbling children. This is what Jesus’ disciple must learn, the freedom of the babbling child on his Father’s lap.” – Erasmo Leiva-Merikakis (Fr. Simeon, OCSO)
