Being Mayor of Stamford has been the great honor of my life. I love this job and this city. I have spent over 40 years in public service in the Mayor’s office and on elected and volunteer boards in our city. I am proud of all my administration has accomplished over the last 8 years including strengthening the finances of our city, investing in our schools and infrastructure, and showing strong leadership to keep people safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

I am grateful for the support of thousands who signed petitions to get us on the primary ballot, and the army of campaign volunteers knocking on doors, making phone calls, and getting the word out for our re-election effort…even though these are not the election results we were hoping for.

I congratulate Caroline Simmons on her victory and I pledge to do everything I can to get her elected as Mayor this November. My administration has worked too hard for too long to turn over the future of our great city to Bobby Valentine. Bobby Valentine may be a fun celebrity with lots of great stories, but governing the 2nd largest city in Connecticut is not a game.

Caroline Simmons and I share a commitment to this great city and are both committed to the principles of the Democratic party: expanding civil rights and economic opportunities for all while making key investments in health care, education, infrastructure, environmental stewardship, and arts and cultural institutions.
We have made great progress over the years and I am confident Caroline can continue moving Stamford in the right direction as Mayor.

Years of hard work on behalf of the residents anf taxpayers of Stamford has come down to this: tomorrow's vote in the Democratic Primary for Mayor. I have always been guided by what's best for our entire community and I ask Stamford Democrats for your vote tomorrow so we can keep making improvements to our city. Together, we have helped shore up the finances of our city and held the line on taxes, leading to substantial economic growth and investments in our schools and infrastructure. Together, Stamford has led the way on responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, and we now have the highest vaccination rate of any city in CT over 70,000 population. We are getting things done in Stamford! People are seeing our high quality of life and voting with their feet by moving here. Stamford has grown in population by almost 9,000 people in the last decade. We are the place to be! I am asking for your vote tomorrow so we can keep our momentum going. Polls open across the city at 6 am tomorrow, and I urge you to vote for our future. Check out https://www.mayormartin.com/ to find out where your polling place is. Thank you for your support.

Great to visit with the Knights of Columbus at Scalzi park, who are volunteering to support the special Olympics. Stamford will be hosting the Bocce ball events as part of the Olympics, and it was an honor to meet one of our own athletes Tim Mohr, who is a fierce competitor!!

On 9/11, there were 10 souls from Stamford who perished. We honor the memory of Sean Rooney at the Liberty Garden put together by the Glenbrook Neighborhood Association at the Glenbrook Train Station. We remember Sean and all victims of that terrorist attack on our nation. We say their names, and remember their lives and the contributions they made to family and community. We also honor the bravery and sacrifice of many firefighters who gave their lives trying to save others. Honored to stand with the Stamford firefighters at Woodside in remembrance of their brothers and sisters who never made it home that tragic day.

At 8:46 a.m., the moment American Airlines flight 11 struck the north tower of The World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, we observe a moment of silence together in community with Stamford Police Officers. 20 years have passed but we will never forget the terrible tragedy of 9/11. We remember all the victims and remember their names. And every day we honor the sacrifice of so many selfless first responders. Many who lost their lives on that day and many who worked around the clock helping recover the dead and care for the wounded, risking their lives on a smoldering pile of rubble to save anyone they could.
