Presenting exciting classical theatre in St. Louis since 1984 St. Louis Shakespeare is the city's premiere classical theatre.

Founded in 1984 by Donna Northcott, SLS produces four productions annually of works by William Shakespeare, and other playwrights including Moliere, Wilds, Stoppard, Miller, Zimmerman, etc., and classically-themed scripts. SLS is the parent company of Magic Smoking Monkey Theatre; MSMT produces annually 1-2 original late-night parodies of pop culture classics.

The clock is ticking down, but there's still time to send your love to Magic Smoking Monkey Theatre for Give STL Day 2026!

Show your appreciation to the many actors, designers, and technicians who've lowered their standards, briefly abandoned their life goals, and disappointed their parents by working with MSMT! Don't let their sacrifice go unappreciated!

And if you are one of these judgement-impaired artists, please take a moment to donate to MSMT - the parody mothership - and maybe we can "forget" all those sordid instances that occurred backstage . . . Love your guts, Monkeys - and Monkey-fans! See you at the theatre!

Hello Shakespeare Fans, Friends and Aficionados!

I received the message below from Kevin Doerr (son of Kathy Doerr, SLS's greatest supporter)

Remember a few years ago, when you and Kathy wanted to build a Lego model of the Globe Theater as part of a St. Louis Shakespeare fundraiser? Well, there is currently a Lego Ideas project that is very close to reaching enough fan support to be considered for judge review!

https://beta.ideas.lego.com/product-ideas/42cb5beb-745b-4108-95fd-e6c118a98379

If this gets another 1,300 votes before June 7 2027, Lego will consider making it into an official product. Note that a lot of finalists do not make it past the judging panel (usually only the top 3 Lego Ideas are approved each year...) But I think this one has enough educational value to be a strong contender.

If you could please help spread the word to your subscribers, I think we could make this real! They will need to make a free Lego.com account to vote.

Whaddaya say, friends and Shakespeare fans - are you with us? Let's make this happen! And I will buy a Lego Globe model and create a tiny St. Louis Shakespeare paving stone to sit at its base.

Let's do this!!!
