Happy International Picnic Day! 🌭🧺

To celebrate, Summer at City gathered on the field for a school-wide picnic filled with hot dogs, laughter, and time together in the sunshine. Students spread out their blankets, enjoyed lunch with friends, and made the most of a beautiful summer day outdoors. ☀️

Summer at City is in full swing! ☀️

To wrap up their first week, students took part in the 3rd Annual Recycled Fashion Show ♻️ , showcasing outfits and accessories created from repurposed materials. Scholars strutted down the red carpet in their own designs, while others proudly modeled creations made by their classmates.

From start to finish, the event was a fun and unique celebration of creativity, collaboration, and artistic expression. We loved seeing students' ideas come to life and can't wait to see what Week 2 has in store! 🎨✨

🎶 Take me out to the ballgame! ⚾

City Academy students returned to Busch Stadium over the weekend, this time taking the field to perform the National Anthem through song and violin. Our small-but-mighty group filled the stadium with music and represented City Academy with confidence, talent, and heart. We are so proud of these young performers for sharing their gifts on such a big stage and dazzling Cardinals fans once again. 👏🎻🎤❤️

Thank you to all of our Mystery Readers who spent time with our 1st graders this semester! 📚

Whether sharing Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Jabari Jumps, The Great Fuzz Frenzy, or another favorite title, our guest readers created memorable experiences for students through engaging read-alouds and meaningful conversations.

As summer begins, we hope everyone keeps the reading adventure going. Be sure to pick up a good book and turn a few pages this summer! ☀️📖

Prior to graduation, 6th grade spent time with President and Co-Founder Don Danforth for one of City Academy’s favorite traditions — lunch at First Watch followed by shakes at Shake Shack. Throughout these outings, students had the chance to reflect on their journey at City Academy, share their plans for what comes next, and hear an important reminder: they will always have a home at City Academy no matter where life takes them.

📸 Swipe to see the selfies Mr. Danforth captured with each group along the way!

“School’s out for summer!” 🎶🎸

That’s a wrap on the 2025–2026 school year at City Academy! To celebrate the last day of school, our scholars enjoyed an action-packed Field Day coordinated by Coach KJ, with help from our amazing alumni and volunteers. The morning was filled with a bounce house, bubbles, temporary tattoos, bubble soccer, tug-of-war, three-legged races, and so much more. 🫧⚽🏃‍♂️

Thank you to everyone who helped make this school year so special. We are proud of all our scholars and grateful for the incredible community that surrounds them each day. We wish all of our families a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled summer! 🌈☀️

Last night, we had the honor of celebrating the incredible City Academy Class of 2026 as they prepare to begin an exciting new journey beyond our halls. This inspiring group of graduates are headed to:

Crossroads College Preparatory School
John Burroughs School
MICDS - Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School
Principia School
Thomas Jefferson School
Westminster Christian Academy - St. Louis Missouri
Whitfield School

Each student shared heartfelt reflections on their time at City Academy, speaking to the experiences, relationships, and community that helped shape their path.

Our alumni speaker A'dia Dickerson (Class of 2016) inspired graduates with a powerful reflection as she looked back on sitting in their very same seats 10 years ago. A’dia shared how her love for education first took root at City Academy — a passion that has since guided her toward a career in education. Her words encouraged students to embrace the opportunities ahead, trust their potential, and carry the lessons of City Academy with them into their next chapter.

This year's Brightman Award recipients included not just one, but three City Academy alumni from the Class of 2020. Andrew Ford, Jerone Boggs, and Candace DeLaney, all graduating seniors this year, were recognized for their exemplary service to the community and received scholarships in honor of their impact. In the fall, Andrew will attend DePauw University, Jerone will attend Tennessee State University, and Candace will attend Mizzou.

The Martin Mathews Award was presented to Christian Rose and Laurena Talavedra in recognition of their exceptional citizenship and academic integrity — qualities that reflect the dedication Mr. Mathews showed in service to St. Louis youth.

Huge thanks to our talented 5th graders, led by Strings Teacher Laura Reycraft and Music Teacher Raechel Simon, for their beautiful violin performance of "Pomp and Circumstance" and their heartfelt rendition of "Always Be My Home."

And a special shoutout to the more than 20 City Academy alumni who returned to celebrate, support and welcome our newest alumni into the community. You made the evening even more meaningful.

Class of 2026, remember that we are always here cheering you on! We believe in you, are proud of all you've accomplished, and cannot wait to see all the places you'll go!

From ukuleles and violins to harmonies, solos, dance routines, and an incredible Step Team performance, our Spring Recital was a celebration of creativity, confidence, and hard work. 🎶✨

Students in 3rd-6th grade performed favorites like “A Million Dreams,” “Into the Unknown,” “Dancing Through Life,” “This Is Me,” and more — showcasing the talent, joy, and bold spirit that make our community so special.

We are so proud of every student who shared their gifts with us last week! 👏
