After too much to drink, I tried to leave. They fought back, locked me in a room, and called my trafficker. What happened next was terrifying and humiliating.

For years, life felt like a cycle of exploitation. Meeting a Dixie Mafia member in a bar changed everything. I left with him, unaware of the 3-day journey that ended in a South Louisiana brothel called The Spot. I spent three years locked away.

This is an incredibly unusual story. At 14, I was put to work dancing in a strip club on Bourbon Street, introduced by outlaw bikers. It's not something that happens to everyone, that's for sure.

We were discussing the armor of God when my daughter asked what part isn't covered. The answer? Your back. Because God is our rear guard, always watching our back.

Growing up, the displays of affection were scarce. When I asked my father and grandfather why, the answer was always the same: 'That's how my dad did it.' We decided to break that chain for our own families.

Before accepting Christ, the devil might not pay much attention. But once you say 'I accept Christ,' things change. You become a target.

Protecting kids by hiding darkness is unwise. The Bible teaches us to pass on stories. Recently, I've let my kids ask anything about my past. Being open, even about mistakes, shows them vulnerability and that I'm not perfect, leading them to God with honesty.
