Today is the last operating day for UCDC. It’s a bittersweet day for sure. The College of Education is relocating to North Campus. Our building will be demolished to make way for a new public private partnership development designed to be a huge part of UMSL and the Normandy community.
As I reflect upon my 31 years as director, I smile when I think about the thousands of children and families that I had the opportunity to know. My children went to UCDC and have grown into kind, successful adults! I have life long friends from the staff who I have worked with. I have had the opportunity to care for children of children who came to UCDC.
I close the doors knowing that all the children and families of UCDC were loved. We strived to treat children with respect and kindness always. Children’s love for learning was nurtured and their social emotional growth always supported. Childhood was recognized as a time for children to learn through play.
My heart is both heavy and full today. I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Fondly, Lynn Navin

The Explorers were so happy to experience this first snow of 2022!
Out of an abundance of caution, we are postponing the retirement reception for Pat Wallace. We will reschedule when Covid numbers get better.

One of our Beloved Teachers, Ms. Patricia Wallace, is retiring.
We are heartbroken that she is leaving us, but we are so happy that she will have this opportunity
to pursue her passions and spend time with her family.
(She has promised that she will be back to visit often)
Please join us at a goodbye reception on Wednesday, January 12th from 4:30-5:30 at the Center.
It will be “open house” style to ensure that we do not have too many people here at
one time and that everyone is able to spend a few minutes wishing Patricia well.
Please RSVP to Karen at [email protected]
We look forward to celebrating this amazing educator with you!
