Spring is here...and what better time to be out in the field (or under a bridge, or in a creek bed...)?

Julian Chastain and Shelby Sample from the M3 Team recently participated in the EWRI Spring Symposium entitled 'Water, Water, Everywhere', hosted at St Louis University. This is the local chapter's full-day educational symposium/workshop for professional development the learn about water-related technical topic in our region. They presented their topic, "Don't Let Your Flood Plain Flood Your Plane: St Louis International Airport's Stormwater Master Plan".

The Environmental & Water Resources Institute (EWRI) is ASCE’s technical source for environmental and water-related issues. EWRI is one of eight ASCE technical institutes.

Our Business Development team attended the 2023 Investment in Infrastructure Expo at the St Charles Convention Center which boasted a record attendance in its 57 years of operation!

We really do get things built! The M3 team recently completed Construction Management services for the Jerseyville Operations Center as a representative for Illinois American Water. Our services included Pre-Construction Plan Review, Pre-Construction Services, and Field Construction Management Services. The 16,000 square foot operations center will consolidate field operations, administrative and operations support staff in a single location.

Marc Eshelman presented at the 2022 Missouri APWA Fall Conference at Union Station this week. His topic covered the M3 Engineering alternatives analysis and design to alleviate flooding of residential and apartment structures along several miles of Cole Creek in the City of St. Charles, MO. Residents along Cole Creek have suffered from flooding for several years, so the City committed to implementing a multifaceted project to address the situation. Using XP-SWMM to model the open and enclosed storm systems, M3 determined that the root cause of the flooding included undersized bridges, a lack of stream capacity and houses that were simply built within the floodplain. The preferred flood reduction solution included replacing a Norfolk Southern Bridge, replacing two vehicular bridges, and widening Cole Creek.

You know it's fall when the Engineers' Club Jake Jare tournament comes around! We had our annual volunteers out on the beverage cart and an M3 team on the links! It was a beautiful day for it!

On Saturday, M3 team members Mike and Grace volunteered for the 17th Annual River des Peres Trash Bash! Every year Great Rivers Greenway coordinates this event for removing trash and debris from St. Louis City and County neighborhoods and waterways within the River des Peres Watershed. Beautiful weather for it!

Each year the M3 team participates in the Annual Jake Jare Golf Tournament. This year marks the 27th year of this unique fundraiser. Since its inception, this tournament has raised more than $485,000! The Engineers' Club of St. Louis coordinates this event to foster growth and improvement of the engineering profession by providing student scholarships and maintaining a quality environment for its membership.

The weather was PERFECT! So much fun!

M3 hosted another successful happy hour during WEFTEC®, (the Water Environment Federation’s Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference) last Monday evening at The Library at Gilt in Chicago.
