2026 Grade 6 Walking the Beam — Forsyth School 06/08/2026

's Adventure Center progression begins with observation of the climbing wall in Eyas and Pre-K, followed by a more formal introduction to the climbing wall in Jr-K and the flying squirrel in Sr-K. By Grade 1, students are introduced to the high ropes course, where they tackle increasingly complex challenges in Grades 2–6.

The journey culminates in a special tradition during the last week of Grade 6, when students walk the Shelton Span high beam. Each student is hoisted onto the beam by their classmates, then walks across to sign their name in "the book." Here, they leave heartfelt messages for their Little Friends and younger siblings to discover during their own future beam walks.

Shout out to Coaches Justin Harris and Jen Ulsas for developing and facilitating the Adventure Center curriculum, and to Mr. Joe Kaminski (Grade 6) for the awesome GoPro photos!

2026 Mile Run & Track Meet — Forsyth School 06/05/2026

A family-favorite event, students in Jr-K and above ran the mile on the track at Francis Olympic Field on the Washington University in St. Louis campus on Thursday, May 21!

Jr-K students are especially fun to watch for their first year on the massive track! In addition to running, these young students are learning and practicing how to stay in the inside lanes, use sticks to count their laps, and pace themselves—and SO much more! It was awesome to see of all ages supporting their classmates as running buddies, and with lots of clapping and cheering!

Back on Friday, April 24, students in Grades 5 and 6 participated in the Jim Hoots Memorial Track Meet at Saint Louis Priory School, which brings together fifth- and sixth-grade students from different Independent Schools of St. Louis / ISSL.

Special thanks to Coaches Justin Harris and Jen Ulsas for organizing and continuing these important traditions!

2026 Taking Flight & Mapping — Forsyth School 06/02/2026

One week ago today, our students celebrated rising up to the next grade level on our "Taking Flight" Transition Day!

In the morning, students in Grade 5 and below visited their next year's classrooms and teachers for a closer look at what's to come! Students in Grades 3 and up created a special "run tunnel" for Grade 2 students as a welcome to the Upper Division! Then, everyone gathered in The Rand Center for the last All-School Assembly of the year, featuring a song performance by Grade 6. After that, everyone headed outside for a Big Friend & Little Friend picnic!

Later that afternoon, families joined us in The Rand Center for our annual mapping exhibition, featuring memory maps from Grade 4 (the United States), Grade 5 (the Western Hemisphere), and Grade 6 (the world!). New this year, Grade 3 presented stunning Missouri state maps created on sheets of aluminum, highlighting specific rivers and trails with color and texture.

Congratulations to Grade 6 student Archer, who tied the box-jump record of 49 inches in PE class with Coaches Justin Harris and Jen Ulsas on Friday, May 15! Love to hear his classmates cheering him on. Way to go, Archer!

Best wishes to Mrs. Donna Militello, who retires from this summer after an outstanding 37 years! Donna was hired by former Head of School Dr. Becky Glenn when the campus consisted of just two houses(!), Fillmore and Dunbar. Over the years, "Mrs. M" taught Jr-K, Sr-K, and Grade 1, ending her decades-long tenure with Sr-K.

As she looks toward retirement, Donna hopes her former students carry one thing with them: a sense of belonging. "I hope they have the fondest memories of Forsyth," she says. "A place that helped them grow with love and security."

While her daily presence will be deeply missed, Donna's impact will continue to be felt for generations to come in the readers she inspired, the confidence she nurtured, the traditions she created, and the community she helped to shape.

2026 Girls on the Run — Forsyth School 05/27/2026

Congratulations to those students in Grades 3–6 who participated in (GOTR) this spring!

GOTR is an after-school program that uses the power of running to help prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. In addition to training for a 5K, the program focuses on self-esteem, teamwork, community service, and emotional and physical health.

Girls on the Run St. Louis culminated in a non-competitive 5K for participants and their adult running buddies Downtown on Saturday, May 9. Before that, Forsyth held its own practice 5K (pictured here) in Forest Park on Wednesday, April 29.

Special thanks to Ms. Lia Acri (Grade 3), Girls On the Run Coordinator & Head Coach, plus everyone in our adult community who served as a volunteer coach, running buddy, course wayfinder, timer, or finish-line cheerleader!

2026 Grade 4 Play — Forsyth School 05/22/2026

Our Grade 4 students did a SUPER job with their play performances of "The Amazing Adventures of SUPERstan" last week for the entire school community! It's been a great year of drama performances directed by Ms. Evann De-Bose (Drama).

At , Sr-K and Grades 1–3 present a short assembly performance for the entire school community during the regular school day. Grades 4–6 present two performances of a longer play, including an evening performance for families. Most assemblies and plays also include a musical component. In most productions (including Superstan), roles are double- or triple-cast to maximize inclusion and better distribute lines and stage time.
