A glacier that has persisted since the last major Ice Age is now disappearing. 🏔️

Researchers at WashU found that parts of Wyoming's Sunlight glacier system are melting so rapidly that some areas could be ice-free within a decade. Beyond this loss, the study provides new tools for monitoring glacier decline worldwide and understanding impacts on water resources, ecosystems, and community safety. https://bit.ly/4bgEGA7

For the first time in U.S. history, solar power generated more electricity than coal in a single month. It's a milestone that reflects years of innovation, investment and growing demand for affordable, reliable energy.

New Mexico is well positioned to lead in this new energy economy. We rank among the nation's leaders in solar potential and have made strategic investments in renewable energy, transmission infrastructure, workforce development and advanced manufacturing.

Those investments are producing results. Renewable energy now generates the equivalent of roughly two-thirds of the electricity consumed in New Mexico, and solar production continues to grow across our state.

We've also shown that economic growth and environmental stewardship can go hand in hand. Methane emissions have declined by more than 70% compared to 2005 levels while we continue investing in the industries and infrastructure that support long-term prosperity.

The future of energy is being built right now, and New Mexico is helping lead the way.
