Parents: your student's F-1 Visa is worth $$$! Here’s why. US companies love to hire international students directly out of undergrad. And you do have more than 90 days to find this job. Taken together, this presents...
International students, don’t incur unemployment days - be sharp!
Volunteer work stops the OPT clock every time. And so does a few other types of work - such as forming an LLC.
Just register an offer for any form of work with your school.
The USCIS will be so impressed with your altruism, they'll stop the clock on your OPT. ^^
Not legal advice - more like life advice: don’t incur unemployment days - be sharp!

Oh joy, hours of volunteer work - just so the international student can avoid using OPT unemployment days?
Who wouldn't want to tirelessly give back to the community? Sign me up!
In all seriousness: you don’t ever need to incur “unemployment days”.
You have more than 90 days to job hunt.
Just stop the OPT clock.
Then you can conduct a proper job hunt and stress a lot less.

For all the international student parents out there, have no fear! Your ambitious job seeker doesn't have to immediately enroll in grad school if they can't find a job.
The secret? Finding a full-time job using their OPT work authorization.
And for the STEM majors, the cherry on top is the chance to extend the work period beyond 12 months! 🍒
So, if Plan A doesn't work out (finding a job), there's always Plan B (grad school). And if that doesn't work, rinse and repeat! 🤪

Don't let the stress of work visas bring you down, there's always a solution!

Parents, beware! OPT work authorization is no joke 🤣
In addition to 3 years of experience on STEM-OPT, the H1B lottery may just be a hop, skip, and a jump away .
And the H-1B means 3 years of work experience and can be extended for another 3 years.
If you work for 3 years on OPT and 6 years on an H-1B visa, that’s $900,000 in pre-tax value assuming $100k in total comp per year of work.
One step at a time: let's focus on that job search first 🔍

International students have more than 90 days to job hunt when you play it smart.
Correct, after your OPT start date, 90 days can pass and then you fall out of status if without an offer.
BUT (!): you can have a volunteer role ready / in hand if well-before your OPT start date. Any volunteer role filed with your school unlocks an entire 12 months to job hunt.
I recommend a process of getting an offer within 42-90 days (in that range) in my Career Accelerator Program.
What if the H-1B works out? That’s great. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Start with a great first job. That’s where the H-1B opportunities lie.
