Fjords are valleys carved by glaciers during the ice ages, then the sea flooded them once the ice melted. Norway has over 1,000 fjords.
The Sognefjord alone runs over 125 miles inland and drops more than 4,000 feet deep, and both the Geirangerfjord and the Nærøyfjord are UNESCO World Heritage sites.
One of the best ways to see them is from the water, as you can take in all the incredible scenery while breathing in the fresh air.
