CGC Mural Contest ENTRY #5
TITLE: "From the Clock tower"
ARTIST'S REFLECTION: “I really wanted to highlight first, the amount of people in and surrounding the SLU community that worked together to gain attention for the cause. I modeled the piece on a photo that really stuck me from the occupy SLU protests. I love the composition of a dark scene highlighted by the light from the clock tower, almost signifying the heart of the SLU community. As well as sparse warm light surrounding the community and reflecting on the protestors raised fists. It shows the light and warmth to be found in hard times, through direct action. I also hoped to highlight there there was no one hero of occupy SLU, but the work of a whole community coming together to better themselves, to hold themselves and others accountable”

CGC Mural Contest ENTRY #4
TITLE: "Freedom Lies in Being Bold"
ARTIST'S REFLECTION:
“The piece that I am submitting is intended to reflect the message quoted by Robert Frost "Freedom Lies in Being Bold." It is in self-acceptance and love for ones own community that we find internal freedom. The silhouettes depicted in this piece are intentionally left vague as the purpose is that any viewer can look at these people and see themselves. Any variety of bodies types, genders, sexualities, races, abilities, cultures, and values are intended to be seen in this piece. It is a universal message of acceptance. I am hoping that a viewer is able to put themselves into one of these characters, and join the celebration on the page”
