This is the first picture I ever took of my work with the expressed intention of trying to become a working artist.

I didn't realize until today that Elementally Legit had recently begun it's 4th year.
I'm awful at anniversaries. Like to the point where every year, my husband and I celebrate our wedding anniversary with a high five, only after someone else reminds us of what day it is.
My whole life I had always dreamed of being good enough to sell my art. I realize now that if I waited until I thought I was good enough, I never would have tried.
As I have continued on my journey of creating and pushing my self to improve and learn new skills, I have realized that my decision to just go for it, despite being full of doubt, is what has led me to a place of truly being a working artist.
I've gone from making and selling basic elastic bead bracelets - NOT to justify the obscene amount of stone beads I had.....(it was)...to designing a jewelry collection that includes a full compliment of braceles, necklaces, earrings, and now rings.
Recently, I have begun to create wall hangings with a mixture of carefully selected stones from my crystal lady (yesIhaveacrystalladyandhernameisEudoraandIloveher) and elements I personally foraged in nature.
I've learned wire wrapping, soft soldering, wood carving, stone carving, wire weaving, rock weaving, metal clay, and finally have started taking metal smithing classes.
The most exciting part of this 3rd year has been learning to cut and polish stones I personally dug from the earth or collected in rivers.
At my first show, someone asked if I had found, cut, and polished the stones myself.
I said, "Not yet, but I will."
Thank you to those who have supported me by loving me and encouraging me to go for it. Thank you to those who have supported me by purchasing my work. It brings me such joy to know someone is cherishing the stones in their jewelry as much as I have.
And who knows? Maybe one day I'll be a full time working artist.
Until then, I'll keep creating. And even then, I'll continue learning.
