I just cannot express how amazing the teens from De Smet Jesuit High School are. For the past 3 years, we have been blessed to have a partnership with the DeSmet Jesuit high school junior apostolic service program. Every Monday, 6 teens commit to serving refugees in our community. They choose to do this work. They show up on time, happy, and willing to do difficult things. And as a bonus, they love the work and as seniors they reach out on their days off school and ask for service work. Today we had 2 different groups devote their day to delivering furniture and donations to new arrival families. Yes they are a huge help. But more importantly they are meeting the families, getting to know them on repeat visits, they are comfortable sitting and having tea and learning about importance of community, language barriers and honoring the dignity of each person. Thank you DeSmet for committing to the importance of learning beyond the classroom.

Thank you everyone for your continued support of our refugee friends! Lots of new arrivals and we rely on the community for support!
If the company that you work for has a foundation or funding for non-profits and community support, please connect me with someone in that department so I can apply for funding. Or if you have a family foundation or if you participate in Donor Advised Fund- think about us! We have 501c3 status through Welcome Neighbor STL.
Many of the recent families have been living in refugee camps for decades waiting for their “ticket” out of there. When they arrive they have the legal right to work, the legal right to education, they have been vetted by the Department of State and they are ready and motivated to start their new lives here. We are here to help them get their housing, jobs, a driver’s license, registered for school, to teach them American culture, etc.
I know not everyone has extra money or extra time. But I also know many organizations have funding designated for community support or humanitarian efforts. And that is what i would like to tap into.
These families are helping our economy. So maybe you know of grant funding to support some of our programs.
If you have a car to donate- reach out to me [email protected]
If you have clothes to donate- take to House of Goods or Oasis Internatioional
If you have furniture or household items to donate- call Home Sweet Home
If you have a washer or dryer to donate contact [email protected]
If you have an apartment to rent- email me [email protected]
Thank you for all your support! I wish I could share the sincere gratitude from these families. On behalf of them- thank you!!!!

We need your help! We have an opportunity to be part of a solution to our city’s housing problem. We are setting up a floor for temporary immigrant housing at the Peter and Paul Community Shelter. We would love the community’s help in getting the floor ready. Here is an Amazon link to the items we need. Everything will be delivered directly to the shelter.
Thank you for your help!

Thank you St. Francis Xavier College Church for inviting us to participate in your Social Justice camp for middle schoolers. Our Afghan kids had the best time hanging out with you all today. It was awesome to share Afghan food and culture with you all. Your campers brought all the fun with their field hockey sticks, water balloons, bracelet making kits and their smiles.
