CDR Patrick Harper (Pharmacist), CDR Ana Sandee (Therapist), LCDR Steven Brown (Nurse) and LCDR Monica Murie (Engineer) represented Commissioned Officers Association of the U.S. Public Health Service (COA) and provided information to students regarding opportunities with USPHS at the 2024 Career Fair and Residency Showcase at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis last month.

For Veterans Day Appreciation, CDR Ana Sandee was invited by the local elementary school to do a USPHS-Prevention Through Active Community Engagement -PACE presentation to the second grade class on the USPHS mission and the 8 United States uniformed services. CDR Sandee to 90 students and teachers, and her daughter very proudly displayed her prior Air Force and current USPHS photos on the school’s Veterans Day poster wall.

CDR Patrick Harper, CDR Ana Sandee and LCDR Steven Brown represented participating in the Families Run For Ovarian Cancer 5K to support St Louis Ovarian Cancer Awareness along with their families this weekend. Lots of bubbles, fun and flu shots included!

CDR Ana Sandee and LCDR Steven Brown attended the Scott Air Force Base Ball last Friday with their spouses.

Scott AFB Air Force Ball was held at the St. Louis Union Station where the aquarium is currently holding a shark exhibit. Very neat location and the perfect place to interact with local servicemen representing different sister services!

On August 3rd, STL COA’s CDR Patrick Harper ran the inaugural Telford Tree Farm 5k Run/Ruck to support Got Your Six Support Dogs. Telford Tree Farm is a veteran-owned custom health and fitness training center in Troy, IL.

Got Your Six PTSD Support Dogs of Maryville, IL trains and provides specialized service dogs to veterans and first-responders suffering from post traumatic stress to help them regain their lives through the healing power of dogs. The race is slated to continue annually in conjunction with the Troy VFW’s Oktoberfest. Watch for opportunities to run, ruck, or volunteer next year!
