Always a great time supporting Towers of Excellence. This year’s St. Louis golf tournament provided opportunity to spend time with people truly making a difference. Katie List with and Frank Brim and Eric Davis with The Base Chicago truly make Chicago a better place.

They have built what we call “Mentorship programs”. Yet those two words do not begin to describe the passion and dedication and commitment and purpose they bring to their work.

And we get to meet, see and get to know the students. It is an honor to get to know the students who have thrived in college. They started nine years ago as mentees and now thrive in universities around the country and serve as an example to the next generation of mentees.

The media gives us far too many stories about what’s happening in the community, and fails to not only mention but highlight all the positive. All the lives and families doing great things and giving back.

When looking to support organizations truly making a difference, seek out grassroots organizations like Towers of Excellence and The Base Chicago. Our support of these organizations change the trajectory of families.

Happy Friday!

Today is typically a happy day for most people, but if you’re not feeling happy, a great way to change that is to give back. Yes. I’m serious. Research shows us that giving can make us happier, so that’s what I do to quickly turn my day around if I’m feeling low.

It’s a way to turn my negative energy into positive energy very quickly while still honoring and creating space for what I’m going through. Generosity fuels change in the lives of others and your own life- So here’s what to do below:

- GIVE BACK

Donate to your favorite charity (even if it’s 1 dollar!), volunteer your time, or spread kindness and love in some way. Send me your evidence on Instagram!

Giving back is one of the best tools for success. The more you give, the better you feel, the less scarcity mindset you have. Try it and let me know how it feels!

Today’s is simple enough… it’s:A day of peace of mind - go outside and take a walk

Sit in quiet without your phone and find out 1 thing that makes you happy then DO THAT THING.

I get outside of my office and walk in the sunshine daily. Especially when I’m having a rough day. It’s one of my not-so-secret keys to success because it helps me feel better and show up better. I often think of how much better the world would be if everyone played their part and went for a walk when they were upset instead of staying in their bad mood.

Peace isn’t inactivity and it is okay to not do anything

Today is all about finding your inner peace by practicing meditation. Take a few minutes daily to center yourself, breathe deeply, and cultivate mindfulness. Your mental well-being matters.

WHY IS MEDITATION IMPORTANT?
Meditation can improve brain performance and affect memory, mood, concentration, and reaction time. Doing even 5 minutes of daily meditation can stabilize your emotions and even combat feelings of anxiety!!! Meditation practices can significantly reduce stress levels, promote relaxation, and improve overall well-being.

Here's how to do it:
Step 1: Create or go to a calming space. If I'm at my office, I'll go into a room, close the door, walk inside, and sit in the sun. If I'm at home, I'll go to my garden or sit in a room where everything is quiet!
Step 2: Stand, sit, or lie in a quiet place. Inhale for 4 seconds, then hold your breath for 4 seconds. Exhale for 4 seconds, then hold your breath for 4 seconds. You can imagine yourself drawing a box with your breaths to maintain your focus. If you lose focus, return back to your breathing! Do this for 5 minutes (or as long as you wish to go!) This is called Box Breathing. It's a bIt's technique to help you calm your central nervous system, recharge your battery, and give yourself a quick RESET.
Step 3: Take a selfie while meditating and share it in your stories while tagging me .0! Let's discuss with people why they need to meditate as well.

I was negotiating with myself this morning…. Giving g myself permission NOT to do something I promised myself I would do.

My takeaway was that I noticed I was negotiating. And I stopped and took action. Get up and go… even on days you don’t want to!!
