Hi! I’m Miley. I’m a rescued mostly‑Chihuahua and I’m 3 ½ years old. I may only be nine pounds, but I have a big personality and an even bigger attachment to my favorite human—which is why I proudly identify as a Velcro dog. My person volunteers for Chihuahua Rescue and Transport, and in 2022 was ready for her third rescued Chihuahua. She contacted her friends there and they told her that they had the perfect puppy for her. A volunteer with the rescue had found me at a shelter where I had been taken after being found wandering outside a Dollar Store in Norlina, NC. I was only about 7 weeks old. The rescue named me Miley, and my person decided that the name fit me.

The March installment of Coffee and Connections felt like a true celebration of spring. Bathed in bright sunlight, nearly 50 local women gathered to swap stories, catch up with neighbors and pick up a few professional culinary secrets. The highlight of the morning was a presentation by the renowned Chef Tim Schafer. For many in attendance, Tim was a familiar face—some recalled his days in New Jersey, while others remembered his local restaurant from 25 years ago. With over 40 years of experience in high-end restaurants and consulting, Tim has recently pivoted his focus toward the intimate art of being a personal chef, much to the delight of our community.
