I’d like to congratulate my dear friends in for winning Best Blues Rock Album for “Help Yourself” at this year’s Blues Music Awards, as well as for Best Instrumental Bass. Many of you know me as a multimedia part of the St. Louis music industry, but did you know that my bread and butter (which you need in this industry) is being a social worker in private practice. I’ve worked as a hospital social worker, a women’s clinic social worker, a school social worker, a community activist and advocate, and now a clinical private practitioner at my own collective, Soul One Wellness Counseling, LLC. I am a proud worker and agent of change and stand in solidarity with all community workers who are widely less valued despite spending countless hours and mental and emotional depletion for underserved populations and people seeking help for their mental health and wellness. As much as I love my roles in music, social work is where my heart lives.
