Teacher training is one of the biggest investments you’ll make in your career. The Pilates industry is unregulated, which means the range of programs out there is wide, from rigorous, multi-year apprenticeships to weekend certifications that will leave you underprepared and underpaid.

The Pilates Lab offers a 30-week, 600+ hour Primary Certification program in partnership with Real Pilates NYC. Applications are open for Fall 2026. Questions? Link in bio!

Most people don’t know there are two very different things called Pilates.

There’s contemporary Pilates, and Classical Pilates. They aren’t the same thing.

Classical Pilates is a complete system, developed by Mr. Pilates himself, taught through an unbroken lineage of instructors, on apparatus he designed, in the sequence he intended.

Contemporary Pilates may give you a workout. But it’s not the full system. You might be doing reformer classes, but you’d get better results by doing authentic Pilates.

Swipe to learn the difference! 🤓

This utterly joyful woman turned 85 this summer, and we’re still celebrating her unstoppable commitment to the Pilates method. 🙌

A Pilates practitioner for over 30 years, she shows up at The Lab with a smile twice a week for her lessons.

Classical Pilates is for all ages and all stages for strength, mobility and longevity. We’re here to help you achieve your goals.

The Pilates world can sometimes feel divided: classical vs. contemporary, comprehensive programs vs. weekend certifications, independent studios vs. large chains.

This past weekend, Kristen was in Dallas teaching continuing education workshops. The teachers in attendance came from a wide range of certifications and backgrounds, yet everyone shared the same goal: a genuine desire to learn.

That spirit is exactly what we’ve always worked to cultivate at The Pilates Lab. A space that is welcoming to everyone, regardless of background, age, experience, or fitness level. You don’t have to know everything to show up, and you don’t have to already be “fit” to belong.

We’re proud to stand for unity, rigorous education, and excellence in teaching, both at home in our studio and on the road. You belong here. 💛

The most practical luxury is the freedom to slow down, explore, and listen.

What does my body need today? What would actually feel good? What changes if I place my hands on the footbar just a little differently?

There’s something different about approaching your body with respect, supporting it instead of pushing through.

When you give yourself that kind of attention, the outside noise fades. Movement in the studio becomes less about effort and more about feeling.

When we ask, “How does that feel? What do you notice?” we’re inviting you to tune in to yourself.

Strength builds quietly with that level of focus. Confidence follows.

This is what we practice here: exploring and listening.

Pilates Lab x Josh Borgemeyer, DPT, MTC presents
Posture Matters- How the Position of Your Rib Cage and Pelvis Affects Core Activation
Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 6pm

Discover how skeletal alignment influences muscular performance in this dynamic workshop led by physical therapist Josh Borgmeyer. Participants will explore how the positioning of the rib cage and pelvis directly impacts core activation and function. Drawing on the principle that form dictates function, this session will delve into how ideal alignment enhances muscle contractility, while misalignment alters length-tension relationships, leading to muscular imbalances—some muscles become shortened and overactive, while others are lengthened and inhibited. Special emphasis will be placed on understanding tri-planar alignment and its role in achieving optimal posture and performance.

Perfect for movement professionals, clinicians, and anyone looking to improve functional strength through better alignment.

The evening will begin with a 30-minute Mat class led by Pilates Lab lead trainer, Katie Dalzell.

Reserve your spot on the Momence App or contact the studio.
