When Alla, a Holocaust survivor, needed additional overnight care to remain safe at home, JFS Older Adult Services stepped in to advocate on her behalf and help bridge a temporary gap in care.

That advocacy helped Alla receive 17 additional hours of care each week, giving her family greater peace of mind.

“I want to thank you one more time for your help in supporting Alla,” her son, Mike, shared. “All our family greatly appreciate it.”

At JFS, supporting Holocaust survivors means honoring their lives, protecting their independence and surrounding families with care, dignity and love.

More Americans are experiencing food insecurity today than during the height of the pandemic.
June is National Hunger Awareness Month, a reminder that far too many individuals and families face the daily challenge of accessing enough nutritious food. Right here in the St. Louis region, the need continues to grow.

At JFS, the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry is helping meet that need by providing food, dignity and support to thousands of people each year. Every donation, volunteer hour and act of kindness help ensure our neighbors have reliable access to the nourishment they need to thrive.

This month, we invite you to join us in raising awareness and acting against hunger. Together, we can make a meaningful difference for our neighbors and build a stronger, more caring community.

Thank you to United Way of Greater St. Louis for generously providing comfort kits for older adults served through JFS Older Adult Services and the St. Louis NORC program.

These kits, assembled through United Way’s Service2Go program, include thoughtful items such as fleece blankets, large-print word searches, playing cards, lip balm, tissues and hand sanitizer — small comforts that can make a meaningful difference.

We are grateful for United Way’s continued partnership and for helping us support older adults in our community with care, dignity and connection.

Sweet treats and good company made for a wonderful afternoon at Oxford Hill apartments on June 4!

JFS NORC members gathered for the first Ice Cream Social of the summer, enjoying a scoop or two while spending time with neighbors and friends. JFS NORC, the St. Louis Naturally Occurring Retirement Community, helps older adults remain independent, connected and engaged in their community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We look forward to more Ice Cream Socials throughout June! 🍦

JFS is proud to be part of a caring Jewish community made stronger through our partnership with the Jewish Federation of St. Louis.

Jewish Federation of St. Louis 2026 Annual Campaign Co-Chair Abby Goldstein recently reflected on how her commitment to supporting older adults has been shaped by experiences such as delivering groceries through JFS to homebound seniors in our community.

Her story is a powerful reminder of what is possible when JFS and the Jewish Federation work together to ensure older adults can age with dignity, compassion, and meaningful connection.
As Abby so beautifully shares, the groceries are important—but often, the weekly visit from a familiar and caring face is just as meaningful.
