Last night, the First Capitol Lions gathered for a memorable Installation Night as we celebrated the completion of our 25th year of service to the St. Charles community. (Founded on June 18, 2001)

The evening provided an opportunity to reflect on another successful year, recognize outstanding members, and officially install our new officers and board members as we begin our 26th year of service.

A highlight of the evening was recognizing several Lions whose dedication and commitment exemplify the very best of our organization:

🏆 Lion of the Year – Lion Jodi Richterkessing Cook

Presented annually to a member who has demonstrated exceptional service, leadership, and dedication to the success of our club throughout the year. Jodi's passion for service and commitment to our mission made her a deserving recipient of this year's honor.

🏅 Melvin Jones Fellowship Recipients – Lion Jodi Cook and Lion Linda Gorman Knowles.

The Melvin Jones Fellowship is one of the highest honors in Lionism, recognizing individuals who exemplify humanitarian service and a commitment to helping others. Named after Lions Clubs International founder Melvin Jones, this award reflects a significant contribution to the ideals and mission of Lions Clubs International.

⭐ Progressive Melvin Jones Fellowship Recipient – Lion Dan Foust Sr.

A Progressive Melvin Jones Fellowship recognizes continued and sustained dedication to humanitarian service beyond an individual's original Melvin Jones Fellowship. This honor reflects years of ongoing commitment to serving others and supporting the mission of Lionism.

❤️ Inaugural Heart of a Lion Award Recipient – Lion Dan Foust Jr.

Created this year by the First Capitol Lions Club, the Heart of a Lion Award recognizes a Lion whose actions consistently reflect the spirit of our organization—someone who serves without seeking recognition, steps up whenever help is needed, and demonstrates unwavering loyalty, compassion, and commitment to both our club and community.

Congratulations to all of our award recipients, our newly installed officers and board members, and every Lion who has contributed to the success of our club over the past 25 years.

Thank you to our members, families, sponsors, and community partners who have supported our mission since 2001. Together, we have built something truly special, and we look forward to continuing our tradition of service as we begin our 26th year.

Last Thursday was an incredible evening as the First Capitol Lions proudly presented a $1,000 donation to Gwendolyn's Gifts in front of nearly 100 community members gathered for an ice cream social in the Huntington Park subdivision.
The event was a tremendous success, with Gwendolyn's Gifts raising nearly $6,000 in a single evening. We are grateful for the opportunity to support organizations that make such a meaningful impact and continue to inspire our community every day.

It is with sadness that we share the passing of fellow Lion, Kurt Baue. 🦁

Kurt was a member of the First Capitol Lions Club for nearly 14 years. While many knew him through different moments and events over the years, we were grateful to have him as part of our Lions family.

Please keep Kurt’s family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Lion Kurt.

Big day. Big impact. Even bigger hearts. 🦁💪
Lions from multiple clubs came together Sunday for an eyeglass wrap—and the numbers say it all:

📦 40 boxes
👓 ~300 pairs per box
♻️ Plus countless sunglasses & recycled frames

That’s THOUSANDS of people we’ll help see the world more clearly. 🌍

We also took time for a meaningful rose ceremony honoring a Warrenton Lion—reminding us that service is about people first.

Proud to be part of this group. This is what Lionism is all about.
