Springville City
Springville was incorporated on February 13,1853. The amount of land area in Springville is approx. 11.5 miles. Elevation above sea level is 4,571 feet.
Springville has a rich history. First explored by Father Escalante, a Jesuit Priest, in 1776, Springville was originally settled by eight pioneer families in 1850. It was first called Hobble Creek by the early pioneers because their horses were often hobbled (by loosely tying their front feet together) and left along the stream to graze in the lush grass. If the horses wandered into the creek, the

Hello Springville! Here's a summary of the actions the City Council took at Tuesday's meetings:
🎡 ART CITY DAYS
We recognized this year's dignitaries:
○ Grand Marshals: Wilford & Natalie Clyde.
○ Resident Artists: Mike & Alma Loveland.
○ Business of the Year: Johnson Tire Pros.
○ Citizen of the Year: David Cook.
You can read all about these good people in the Art City Days magazine arriving in mailboxes this week.
🏘 AFFORDABLE HOUSING
We discussed an innovative concept for building owner-occupied, below-market-rate housing on surplus city-owned property adjacent to 1200 W. This has potential to become a model for other cities to copy. We gave city staff the go-ahead to continue pursuing the concept in partnership with the folks at HomeOwnership4u.
🎆 FIREWORKS RESTRICTIONS
We approved a prohibition on fireworks near the wildland-urban interface. Find this year's map here: https://www.springvilleutah.gov/fire-rescue/fireworks-restrictions/
🚛 ZONING REQUEST
A developer building tilt-up warehouse/office adjacent to the restored Hobble Creek delta and the future Buc-ee's requested a realignment of zoning on their parcel. Before granting it we requested they work with city staff on some simple design details.
🚜 CONDIE FARMS
We approved a small zoning change to allow Condie Farms to build some agricultural outbuildings on the south end of their field.
🔎 FRAUD RISK ASSESSMENT
The state requires this annual review of our systems and policies to prevent fraud. A very good score is >355, Springville scored a 375.
👥 COUNCIL REPORTS
The council members shared updates from their various assignments:
○ The Community Board is nearly complete with the first draft of the General Plan.
○ McWane Amphitheater at the Arts Park is on schedule to open for the fireworks show.
○ SUVPS work is continuing at a steady pace to improve grid reliability.
○ A potential land swap with the Forest Service up the canyon may finally be moving forward.

Utah fireworks laws allow the purchase of lawful fireworks from June 24 – July 25. Fireworks can only be discharged two days prior and one day after the holiday (July 4 and July 24). Due to the high level of fire danger, the Springville City Fire Chief is closing certain areas of Springville for the use of all fireworks from July 2nd – July 25th. Fireworks are banned in certain areas of town. https://maps.springville.org/portal/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=7c05525e912346c3abfe521135597349
