The Cowhand Top Hat.

Hard to capture the scale of this piece set at 6.5” tall with a 5” brim. Large binding and a doubled up single loop hat ribbon and a small slice of butter yellow in the bow-keep. The slight rounding of the traditional flat top was a fun eye-warping touch. We always enjoy an opportunity to push our construction and creativity.

We have been building and refurbishing and building Doug’s hats since 2020. At 80 years old he continues training horses, managing cattle and providing access for youth who have experienced trauma the healing power that is working with horses. He’s even good natured enough to stand for a picture. We are fortunate to interact with Doug and all the folks who walk through our door.

Being a craftsman is a rich existence. Rich in story. Rich in humor. Rich in service. Rich in folly. Rich with good folks. Rich because of good friends. True wealth.
