Here are a couple of Christmas birds, gifts for my sister and a good friend of mine. I love that moment when a hummingbird approaches a flower and throws the articulate little fan of its tail out to steady itself. The other one is made using a pair of scissors for the wings, with an Emily Dickinson quote etched into brass on the side. "Hope is the thing with feathers," it reads. Perfect for Christmas and a New Year!

Here is the finished install on my first commissioned piece, the "Spirit De Vess."

After 80 hours, 163 horseshoes, and one long haul to central Kansas it has found its home as the center piece for my clients' home. It is designed after the logo for their dressage stables, Haras de Vess.

I had a lot of fun with this one, especially feeling out the contours of the neck. I gave it a subtle turn to create the impression that the stallion has just noticed the viewer. I also like how it is balanced on a single point, which gives it a feeling of weightlessness.
