Readings for the The Holy Trinity are Genesis 1:1–2:4a; Acts 2:14a, 22–36 and Matthew 28:16–20.
It seems unsettling that God is thinking about us. At first, aware of our failings, we may be filled with guilt.
But God thinks of us out of loving mercy. His thoughts quell our misgivings. Genesis reminds us that He created everything—for us. Although the people of Jerusalem were instrumental in Jesus’ crucifixion, Peter’s reminder of David’s writing points out that the Creator is stronger than His creation. Good news!
And despite our sins and wanderings, God wants to use us. He has work for us to do. He must be thinking about what we can do, now separated from our sins. We have been united to Christ. “O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!” (Psalm 8:1).
