Friends, we are asking for prayer today for Miguel, our assistant pastor.
While working hard to prepare the missions house/parsonage for team season, he fell from a ladder. He received five stitches in his lip and is dealing with dislocated fingers, as well as injuries to his knee, elbow, and wrist.
We are so thankful it wasn’t worse, but he is in a lot of pain and facing some recovery time. If you know Miguel he is all over the place with his hands in everything so a recovery time will not be the easiest for him.
Please pray for:
• Quick and complete healing
• Protection from infection
• Rest and relief from pain
• Encouragement for his spirit
• Wisdom for the doctors treating him
• Finances to cover medical bills
If you would like to help cover his medical expenses, please message us here directly.
We know the Lord sees every unseen act of service. Thank you for covering Miguel in prayer during this time.

Please pray for Mexico.
Following recent military action against a major cartel leader, there has been unrest and scattered violence in different regions, including incidents affecting pharmacies, convenience stores, and public transportation near us.
Out of an abundance of caution, we have suspended all church activities for the next 48 hours, including:
• Women’s Bible Study and Gathering
• Manna Children’s Program
• Hospital Outreach
We’ve asked our church members and staff to stay home, remain alert, and pray for our nation — especially for Tijuana.
Please pray for protection over the innocent and for peace as authorities pursue justice.

After 10 long days, Shelby has been found.
We found her.
And our hearts are overflowing with relief, gratitude, and emotion.
This is the beauty and the ache of serving in a ministry that loves on orphans.
They become your kids without being your kids.
You celebrate their laughter, you worry over their silence, you carry them in your prayers, and when they hurt—you hurt too.
There is a unique pain on both sides. Kids who have experienced loss, abandonment, and trauma carry wounds that don’t disappear overnight. And those who love them carry the constant longing to protect, to heal, and to make things whole.
These last days reminded us that love is costly.
That caring deeply means feeling deeply.
And that our greatest prayer isn’t just safety but 100% healing. Healing of hearts, minds, memories, and identities. Healing that only God can fully bring.
Shelby, te amamos muchísimo! Estamos aquí para ti — luchando por ti y contigo.
And to every child who feels forgotten, unseen, or broken we will keep showing up. We will keep loving. We will keep praying. And we will keep believing that restoration is possible.
Because this is what ministry looks like.
Because these kids matter.
Because God’s heart is for the orphan.
There is still so much we cannot share, but we ask that you please continue to pray for Shelby. Pray for complete healing; emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically. Pray for peace, protection, and restoration in every area of her life.

Saturday Update: We found Shelby! Please check out our latest post for a more complete update!
Thank you for all your prayers, love, and encouragement.
Urgent prayer request!!
Monday Update- Shelby has not yet been found and it has been a week since we (our staff) has seen her. Pray for our team as we navigate how to advocate for Shelby so the authorities keep looking for her and so she is not forgotten.
One of our manna kids has been missing since the beginning of the week. While we don’t know if she left voluntarily or there was foul play involved, she has not been seen or heard from since late Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.
Her name is Shelby and she is one of the teens that lives in Casa Belen (the orphanage that we partner with).
Please join us in praying for her safe return!

Update: He’s awake! He is breathing on his own without the help of any machines and thankfully the induced coma allowed his body to get some much needed healing! God has performed a miracle in Juan Pa’s life!
Wednesday 9:01 PM (Tijuana time) As of right now we have no real update. Please keep praying.
🚨‼️Urgent Prayer Request ‼️🚨
We are asking you to please lift up Juan Pablo, a 16-year-old from our church, who is currently in the hospital fighting for his life. He is battling pneumonia, fluid in his lungs, a high fever, and one kidney that is not functioning.
Please join us in praying for:
• Healing over his body
• Provision of the insurance and medical care he needs
• Access for our team to be able to get into the hospital to be with him
We believe in the power of prayer and ask you to stand in faith with us for Juan Pablo and his family.

*Happy Birthday, Kat!*
It’s incredible that every year I get older, you get younger. Somehow, you manage to bring more light, more joy, and more love into our lives with each passing year.
Our little family of four, our church—Centro Shalom - literally our entire world wouldn’t be the same without you. You have this amazing way of selflessly serving others, always putting everyone before yourself, and passionately defending what you believe in—even when it’s not the easiest thing to do.
You press me to be the best version of myself, challenging me in all the right ways. But above all, what I admire most is your unwavering love for God. You love Him with all of your heart, and that love radiates through everything you do.
Today, we celebrate you and the incredible person you are. I’m so blessed to walk this journey with you by my side. Happy Birthday, my love. Here’s to many more years of youth, joy, and God's blessings.
*I love you endlessly.*

This incredible team saw over 500 patients in the past 4 days. They served the people of Tijuana in 5 different districts-meeting both physical and spiritual needs. Connections were made, seeds were planted, and lives were changed from eternity.
How great is our God!!

So, we gonna do this thing or what?
We both attribute our love for God and His global mission to the fact that we were born into Christian households that were passionate about serving the Local Church. We both accepted Jesus as our savior early in their lives, and began pursuing global missions soon thereafter. It’s hard to decide exactly when Peru became the focal point of our story because we both were exposed to Peruvian missions as teenagers on short term mission trips. It was during those trips that we surrendered to be career missionaries. It’s almost as if Peru has been weaved throughout their entire lives because neither one of us really remember a life without Peru as the center focus. The story of when we began to pursue Peru together began in August at Bible College. As with many Bible colleges, there was an excitement when new students arrived and word quickly got to Kat that there was a good-looking guy introducing himself as “Hi, my name is Elmo and I want to be a missionary to Peru”. When Elmo introduced himself to Kat as having the desire to serve in Peru she responded with “Huh, me too!”. Elmo then replied “So, are we going to do this thing or what?”.
We have been “Elmo and Kat” ever since.
We made it official on June 14th, 2007 when we got married at Kat’s home church, First Baptist Church of Caldwell, NJ. After completing our undergrad at Boston Baptist College and Louisiana Baptist University followed by a mission’s internship and Elmo’s Ordination at FBC, Caldwell, NJ we were approved through the BBFI to be missionaries to Peru in September, 2011.
Infertility plagued our new marriage for nearly 5 years. We tried to conceive but weren’t able to until God finally allowed us to conceive a healthy baby boy that was born on October 13, 2011, less than a month after being approved as new missionaries. Elmo Compton V (the fifth) goes by the nickname of “Cinco” which is five in Spanish. While he is the only child, he is the life of the party and definitely the most fun member of the family.
