Great turnout tonight, 29 students tried out for our Fall Fortnite season!

Huge thanks to Fortnite Captain Anthony W and senior student Executive member Chyanne R for organizing tonight and working through the top 16 players who will compete this season.

Good luck to all the amazing talent that came out.

Two more in-person nights left, plus weekend online tryouts:

Thursday, Sep 3 — Splatoon & Valorant

Friday, Sep 4 — Apex Legends

Saturday, Sep 5 — Second online-only
tryout for Overwatch

Sunday, Sep 6 — Second online-only tryout for Brawl Stars

📚Students interested in Esports: tryouts start next week, Monday, August 31st, through Saturday, September 5th.

🕹️All tryouts will be held after school at 4 p.m. in the Lanphier High School Esports Lab. (Use the athletic entrance)

📄Flyers listing each game title and date have been posted in the lunchrooms of each school. Students should scan the QR code and login using their school email for more information and to sign up in advance.

⚠️REMINDER: Esports is a co-op activity. Any student attending Lanphier High School, Southeast High School, or Springfield High School can participate.

🗓️Reminder to come out to Lanphier today, Saturday, August 15 at 11:00 AM for our Esports Boot Camp!

🍕 We’ll have pizza and drinks around noon.

🕹️Multiple stations will be set up for students to play our main esports titles, along with a few tournaments alongside our annual Mario Kart Tournament!

What an amazing time yesterday welcoming our incoming freshmen and their families!

Members of our Springfield Capitols Student Executive Board and coaches attended both Freshman Forward events at Lanphier High School and Springfield Southeast High School.

We added roughly 15 new club members and handed out 50+ flyers for our Boot Camp happening this Saturday, August 15th at Lanphier High School.

We can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow starting at 11 a.m.!

Congratulations to our Springfield Public Schools - District 186 Springfield Capitols for placing Second in all three titles we participated in and advancing to State for IHSA being held next weekend!

Huge shoutout to Normal West High School and Unit 5 Esports for hosting and making this years IHSA sectional an incredible success.

Wishing our Capitols good luck as we work our way through the brackets at Normal West High School for the IHSA Sectionals this weekend!

Congrats to Coach Cox, Coach Becker and the Overwatch team taking home third place in state for Illinois High School Esports Association at NIU Huskies yesterday!

State LAN trips are always a great time with excitement and nerves at an all time high. We couldn’t be more proud of our students this year !
