Middle College is an alternative, contemporary high school on Ozarks Technical Community College Springfield campus.

Middle College is a high school on a college campus which provides the opportunity to earn a high school diploma while taking classes on the campus. Our students explore individual career paths and earn both high school and college credits while potentially earning college credit towards certificate or degree. 🎓 For Sean Solis, OTC Middle College turned an interest in health care into twin goals: helping others while seeing the country as a traveling nurse.

Drawn to the opportunity to earn college credit in high school, Solis enrolled in the bioclinical sciences program through The Alliance for Healthcare Education partnership between Ozarks Tech, Missouri State University, Springfield Public Schools, Springfield, MO and CoxHealth.

The program matched his curiosity about how the body works and his desire to make a difference.

“I knew I wanted to do something in the health field,” Solis said. “I wanted to learn more about the body and help people.”

Middle College pushed him with college‑level coursework, strengthening his study habits, time management and discipline.

One standout moment was celebrating the kickoff of construction of the Alliance building at Cox North with Governor Mike Kehoe.

Next, Solis will work toward his RN degree, with plans to become a traveling nurse. He’s excited about the chance to work in different parts of the country, meet new people and keep doing what he set out to do from the beginning: help others.
