I got a chance to follow Royalty in the South Charleston Heritage Days Festival Parade today.

Honestly proud to see these young people out representing 4H in the county where 4H began.

Today is Constitution Day in our country, when we celebrate the signing of the Constitution on September 17, 1787.

I was asked to speak to the Classical Conversation Homeschool Co-op in Springfield about the importance of the Constitution.

I answered many questions, including “What is your favorite part of your job?”

My answer: “I am doing it right now!!”

There is nothing I like more than talking with young people from 1st grade to 12th grade about government, how it works, and how their elected officials are no different than their moms and dads.

Humbled to announce that Clinton County Commissioner Kerry Steed has stepped up to be one of our Hosts for our Apple C***r Sunday event.

Commissioner Steed has been a supporter from the very beginning of my run for State Senate back in early 2024. I can't thank those enough who are stepping up as Hosts and Sponsors for our event.

Things etched into my memory from 9/11/2001…

First, watching the live report of a possible small Cessna plane that had hit one of the World Trade Center towers and hearing the news reporter say “OH NO, A SECOND PLANE HAS HIT THE OTHER TOWER”. Suddenly knowing, with the rest of the world, that we were under attack.

Second, calling my wife and friends to tell them to turn on the news and hearing one of them ask, “What channel?” and my voice quivering as I said, “ANY CHANNEL!”.

Finally, I remember that night sitting in my living room with my wife watching the news. Our four children ages 2, 4, 6 and 8 were upstairs in bed. My wife was holding our 3 month old and me looking at her saying, “Our world has just changed forever!”.

God bless those that lost their lives and those that gave their lives on September 11th 2001. We will never forget…

In Springfield today as well. Let us not forget..
