I’m one of those totally crazy people who actually truly enjoys event planning: the research, the plotting, and all the little details! It’s especially rewarding during the last few days before the event when I have the opportunity to see everything come together beautifully! And that’s what it’s been like during the last few days - despite the craziness! Tomorrow night, for New Year’s Eve, I’ll be celebrating in this breathtaking historic room at Rader Manor in full 1920's style! :D
We are no longer selling tickets for our exquisite event, but please DO peruse the posts and exciting announcements we’ve posted on the event page if you’re curious what our evening will be like – and please do look forward to pictures! :D

Rader Manor
This English style home was built in 1886 and went through two owners before being acquired by Mary E. Wilson in 1917. The property was left by Mary E. Wilson to be used as a home for aging women and opened in 1918 where it had 8 rooms available. The handcrafted oak staircase greets visitors along with high ceilings and windows throughout the home. It became a very popular place for elderly women who needed minimal care and the ladies enjoyed the warmth of the home and the company of each other. Soon the occupancy demand outgrew the home and funds left by Wilson would be used to erect an addition. The addition was expected to be completed within a few weeks, but unforeseen expenses during construction left insufficient funds for furnishing the new rooms. On October 26, 1924, an appeal was made to the philanthropic Springfieldians to assists in furnishing the 20-room addition. Thanks to the support of the community the home was furnished and ready to open its doors to more residents. In 1980 the Springfield City Council approved the property as a local historic site. Unfortunately, due to a decline in occupancy and low funds, the home closed in 1997. After housing over 30 guests over nearly 80 years, the community was sad to see the unique building close its doors. Today, Susan and Wayne Rader have brought a new life to the home, which is now known as the Rader Manor Bed and Breakfast. The home is 13,000 square feet and has been converted to 8 larger bedrooms as well as a fully renovated kitchen, a sitting room, bar, breakfast room, and dining room. The integrity of the original architecture has all been kept from the handcrafted staircase to the wood floors. Just in the common rooms alone, you can find antique pieces of furniture from all over the world including the 10 chandeliers and counting that bring new life to the over 130-year-old building. The original glass elevator has been restored as well as the exterior of the building. Not only will the home serve as a place for visitors and residents alike to enjoy a stay in Springfield in style, but the Manor is also the perfect place for events such as outdoor wedding ceremonies, Christmas parties, birthdays and more.
