🎉 🇺🇸 The countdown is on for one of the most anticipated moments of the National Route 66 Centennial Kickoff Celebration: the Red, White & Bridge Bash, set to bring thousands to Commercial Street for a two-day celebration of music, community and the future reopening of the iconic Jefferson Avenue Footbridge.

The Red, White & Bridge Bash will take place 6–10 p.m. Friday, May 1 and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, May 2, transforming C-Street into a vibrant festival space filled with live jazz, classic cars, local food and family-friendly entertainment set against the backdrop of one of Springfield’s most beloved landmarks, lated to reopen this summer.

The bash captures the spirit of Route 66, celebrates America’s 250th Birthday, while highlighting the unique character of Historic C-Street

🎉 EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
• Live jazz and a variety of musical performances
• Classic car displays celebrating the golden era of Route 66
• Local food vendors, history exhibits and community booths
• A festive atmosphere honoring the Jefferson Avenue Footbridge’s upcoming reopening, with a light, sound and drone show around 8 p.m. Friday, May 1.

🚘 PARKING & TRANSPORTATION
Parking will be available in designated lots along Boonville Avenue, with free shuttle service provided by City Utilities Transit running to and from the event site. A detailed parking and shuttle map will be released ahead of the event.

A great chance to step back in time to see Springfield from yesteryear!

Step back into the style and culture of the 1950s from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at the Library Center. Explore a collection of department store ads and vintage News-Leader photos.

Katy Jessee, an instructor in merchandising and fashion design at Missouri State University, will discuss the history and trends of 1950s fashion. Cap off the evening with a show-and-tell of your 1950s treasures. If you have something to share, email [email protected].
