Silver Springs is one of the Park Board's 10 Historic Parks, home to the annual Park Day Reunion and historic Timmons Hall.
Silver Springs Park was established in 1918 on land known as the old Fairbanks pasture, and later named for a spring on site, flowing into Jordan Creek. During segregation, Silver Springs was the city’s only public park designated for black residents and accompanying sports leagues, including semi-pro baseball. The WPA built fieldstone retaining walls and the first Silver Springs Pool, and lined the creek channel with rock in the 1930s. Located near the OTC and Drury University, Silver Springs features a newly-updated swimming pool, playground, basketball courts, tennis courts, a ball field, picnic tables and grills, restrooms and a large pavilion. Silver Springs Park is the home of the annual Park Day Reunion, celebrated with a parade, a beauty pageant, concerts and a barbeque picnic on the first weekend in August.

Friday, Sept. 25: Springfield Public Works is making an unexpected sewer repair in Silver Springs Park, which has forced the closure of Jordan Creek Greenway, south and west of the tennis courts (red star on the map.) Please avoid this area while work is underway. Repairs are expected to be complete by this afternoon.

🚧 Meador Pool remains closed on Thurs., Aug. 13 due to unscheduled maintenance. 🌞 The last day of outdoor pool season is Sun., Aug. 16, with Fassnight Pool and Silver Springs open. Meador's last day is Sat., Aug. 15. Pools close after this weekend due to many of our lifeguards returning to school.
