Here is a super easy clinical intervention for children to understand cause and effect thinking. Just get some notecards and a marker, and fill in the blanks.

They may not know it, but my life is so enriched by the courage of those that allow me to sit with them and hear their stories, both adults and children. I don’t know if they even know it, but my clients are in my mind even when I’m not with them (object permanence!) I think about these extraordinary people when I prepare for our session on the weekend before I see them, when I see something one of them loves, when I find myself eating their favorite food, when I hear a phrase someone often uses…they are brought to my consciousness. Growth is happening for us. Each in our own way. Times when I wonder if what I do is making a difference, is any growth happening? is anything changing? Something reminds me that it is. It may not look like how I think should look, but appearances are often not reality. Remember, seeds are being planted and with continued presence and care, those seeds take root. Transformation is bound to happen.
