Local leaders raise alarm over O’Fallon, Illinois, intersection plagued by nearly a Decade of Crashes Ward 4 Alderman Todd Roach said fixing the intersection of Scott Troy Road at Old Vincennes Trail and Borchers Lane comes down to one thing: money.

As your Alderman, I opposed O’Fallon’s new 1% grocery tax from day one. Too many of our families—especially seniors and those on fixed incomes—felt the pain every time they shop for the essentials. I believe local government shouldn’t rely on regressive fees on Food that hit the people who can least afford them.
That’s why I offered an amendment to put a sunset on the grocery tax. Under my proposal, the tax will automatically expire at the end of 2027 unless our Council affirmatively votes to renew it. This gives us time to:
• Measure the real impact on our roads and parks, and ither City services
• Explore fairer revenue streams (like targeted economic development incentives)
• Hold a public review before making any decision permanent
I’m proud that my amendment passed and thankful for the majority of my fellow Council Members who supported the Sunset Amedment. O’Fallon now has a built-in check against runaway taxes and the flexibility to find smarter, more equitable solutions for funding critical services.
Thank you for trusting me to safeguard your wallet and your voice. I’ll keep pushing for transparency, fiscal responsibility, and policies that work for everyone, not just the few.

O’Fallon may get relief from 1% grocery tax. But when? How much will new development in the city help offset lost revenue from the state’s grocery tax?

I have spent the week in Chicago where I was honored to present to 200 Global HR leaders from 10 different countries and 36 different states. Discussing the generational shift with young professionals and how companies can work to attract and retain the next generation of business leaders.
Also it was great to be part of a community outreach event where 130 Marmon Employees volunteered at the Greater Chicago Food Depository that serves 800 food banks, soup kitchens and shelters in the Cook County / Chicago area.
Our group was able to package
12,616 pounds of apples6,615 pounds of bread6,576 pounds of pinto beans
This is equivalent to feeding over 21,000 meals worth of food. And within two days these supplies will be served to someone in need.

Happy Mother’s Day too all the Moms today!
Mothers are important to all of us because they provide us with unconditional love, support, and guidance throughout our lives. They are our first teachers, our role models, and our biggest cheerleaders. They sacrifice so much to ensure that we are safe, healthy, and happy. Without mothers, the world would be a far less nurturing and loving place. We should always cherish and appreciate our mothers for all that they do.

Enjoyed my time at the State Capital today working with other MS Activist volunteers advocating for those living with Multiple Sclerosis 🧡. Had a chance to meet with Rep. Katie Stuart, Rep. Charlie Meier, Rep. Kevin Schmidtt, and Senator Christopher Belt. It was a very busy day for all of these legislators and I am very grateful they took time to meet with me.
Particularly thankful for Senator Belt for agreeing to sign on as a co-sponsor to a bill that supports the many in Illinois.

I am incredibly humbled and grateful that I have won re-election for Alderman in the city of O'Fallon. Thanks to all of those who supported me, with your unwavering support, I was able to secure nearly 58% of the vote, which is an increase of 143 ballots cast for me compared to my last election four years ago. This victory would not have been possible without your help.
I am especially grateful for the trust and support of those in the portions of Ward 4 that existed before the redistricting, where we won almost 70% of the vote. However, I recognize that in the new addition to our Ward, I was only able to secure 32% of the vote. I understand that I have a lot of work to do to build the trust and support of this new area of our Ward, but I want to assure you all that I am committed to serving all of our Ward with the same passion I have for the last four years. I have heard your concerns, and I am ready to work with each and every one of you to build a stronger and more inclusive community.
I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who went out and voted yesterday. Your voices have been heard, and I am honored to have your support. To those who may have voted for my opponent, I hope that I can earn your support and that you will reach out to me so we can work together to make our community a better place for everyone.
I would also like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere appreciation to my family for being my pillar of strength during this campaign. All your efforts and support have been amazing. My daughters who went door to door with me visiting over 300 homes, thank you. I am especially grateful to my wife, Jackie, for her resolute backing, devotion, and selflessness throughout the last six months of the campaign. I am cognizant of the fact that she, and her livelihood, was subjected to unwarranted personal attacks during this period, which was entirely unjustifiable. For that I apologize that you became a target and had to endure that. She has made it possible for me to serve our community in the way that I do, and I could not have done it without her.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your continued support, and for making your voices heard at the ballot box. I am looking forward to continuing to serve you and our community in the years to come.
