The Backpack Buddy Program is a weekend food program for students that are in need of assistance for food. All students receive free breakfasts/lunches during the school week, but some go hungry on the weekends. These students might be students that grandparents are raising, or maybe a parent is deployed overseas, or maybe a parent has lost their job, or a tragedy in the family that may have happe
ned. The reasons for receiving the Backpack Buddy Program can be very different, but the impact is the same: students are not receiving enough food over the weekend and come to school hungry. The Backpack Buddy Program and the city of Springfield want to help our friends, family, and neighbors during tough times. That means that most students may need help with food on the weekends. This is just one way to try and help them. You can make a cash or check donation to Backpack Buddy Program or donate food items at Clark Preschool 1500 W. Jefferson Street. It costs about $30.00 a month to feed each student. Backpack Buddy Program cash or check donations can be sent to Backpack Buddy Program C/O: Jill Wuebker 1500 W. Jefferson Street, Springfield OH 45506. You can sort, inventory, and fill bags each week at the Clark Preschool. The Backpack Buddy Program will start by serving one preschool in our district. The estimate of students to be serviced in the 2015-2016 school year is 70-80 students. Our goal is to be placed in the 10 elementary schools by the school year 2016-2017 with future following years servicing the middle and high school. Please consider supporting us this year.
