Our vision is to see a healthy church within walking distance of every African… Our Vision - A Healthy Church Within Walking Distance of Every African.

Recently, the first Assembly of God missions summit for African churches in East Africa brought together roughly 50 leaders from Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan, Burundi, Uganda, and Madagascar. Over three days, the conversation centered on one focus: raising up African missionaries and sending them to unreached people groups.

The vision is becoming clear — that in the years ahead, by God's grace, African leaders from currently unreached people groups will themselves become missionaries to others without access to the gospel.

57% of unengaged people groups in Africa border Ethiopia.

Ethiopia carries a unique spiritual heritage as one of the world's historic centers of Christianity — and sits at the crossroads of some of the greatest gospel access challenges in the region.

The Ethiopian Assemblies of God is responding. Through intentional leadership and a growing missions vision, the national church is strengthening its presence within Ethiopia and embracing its role in the broader global mission.

Alongside Ethiopian locals, a missions-sending culture is emerging — one positioned to reach not only their own nation, but surrounding people groups living without gospel access.

The Live Dead Africa Launch Team in Mombasa is off to a strong start. Since August, two intakes of trainees have joined the program — and today the team is 25 adults and 10 children from 4 nations, doing life together through training, mentoring, and daily outreach into the surrounding community. From here, team members are then launched out to different strategic communities across the continent to begin sharing the gospel.

Sharing the Gospel is already bearing fruit. Last week, the first Muslim man came to faith through the launch team's outreach — and we believe he is just the first of many.

New workers are growing, the church is being planted, and the training continues.

The work among unreached and unengaged people groups is real — and so is the need for prayer. Here are three specific ways to intercede today:

🙏 Live Dead Africa has a 10-year vision to plant 15 new teams among Unreached and Unengaged People Groups — and God is already moving. Pray for the workers He is preparing right now to lead these teams across the continent.

🙏 The Launch Team in Mombasa is ready to train the next generation of church planters. Pray that God calls workers from diverse places and backgrounds to come, be trained, and go.

🙏 For the workers already on the ground across Africa — pray for encouragement, perseverance, and eyes fixed on Jesus as they stay faithful to the task.

Amir is a member of an unreached people group in Africa — one of billions still living without access to the gospel worldwide. For six years he lived with severe pain and immobility.

When AGWM Africa missionaries met Amir, they prayed for healing, and within hours, God healed him completely. He encountered love, truth, and power all in one day.

These missionaries began building a relationship with him and helping him understand who Jesus is. Months later, sitting in a quiet restaurant with his Bible open, Amir was asked what was stopping him from following Jesus. His answer: nothing. He said, "I believe, I am not afraid, and I live this way now."

Jeff and Stefanie Woods serve in multiple roles across Africa — and every one of them is aimed at one goal: advancing the gospel to people who have never heard it.

Jeff serves as Live Dead Africa Director, casting vision for new work, supporting current teams, and partnering with national churches to reach the unreached. He also leads the Live Dead Launch Team in Mombasa alongside his wife Stefanie, training new workers in spiritual formation, missiology, and team life before they go plant churches across the continent.

As strategic leaders for Africa, they focus specifically on church planting among Unreached and Unengaged People Groups. Their work is multiplying. Every worker trained in Mombasa is another seed planted among people who have yet to hear the name of Jesus.

Fatu's father kicked her out at 11 years old.

Trafficked, alone, and trapped in a life she never chose — the road ahead looked dark. But one day, she heard about Jesus.

The Spirit led her to Al-Masih Worship Center, an Urban Tribes church in West Africa. The moment she walked through the doors, she said: "This is home."

She began growing in Christ — joining a women's group, diving into Bible study, and being discipled by a community that saw her worth.

Today, Fatu is married, a mother, and a faithful member of her church's Evangelism Team. And in one of the most beautiful moments of redemption — she encountered a man from her past at church. They were both believers now, sharing with each other what God had done in their lives.

This is what Urban Tribes is about. Reaching the overlooked. Welcoming the broken. Watching Jesus make all things new.

Members of our Urban Tribes team are gathering May 27–29 in Durban, South Africa for the Urban Tribes Conference. We're believing God for big things!

When missionaries, church planters, and ministry leaders come together, something powerful happens. Strategies sharpen. Vision expands. Connections are made that only God could have orchestrated.

We're asking Him for exactly that — divine appointments, fresh insight, and a renewed fire to reach Africa's cities with the gospel.

Would you pray with us as we head to Durban?

Africa is urbanizing faster than any other continent on earth — and the Church is taking root in its cities.

Urban Tribes, an initiative of AGWM Africa, currently has 7 church plants across Africa. These are communities of believers formed in the heart of some of the continent's most dynamic urban centers.

They aren't just churches. They're discipling communities embedded in the culture, reaching the people shaping the future of their countries — and watching God transform lives from the inside out.
