We often meet some of the kindest people during wig fitting appointments, and today was no exception! We met a beautiful breast cancer survivor and her sister and were able to not just provide a new wig, but big smiles, laughter and lots of goodies to pamper the survivor and help her care for her new hairdo.

It's a wonderful thing when organizations like GYNCA, Shelly Sachs Foundation, and Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks can come together to share and build on a resource together for the common good!

Do you ever feel like things just come full circle sometimes? GYNCA staff in the Shelly Sachs Wig Room got to experience that this week. Back in October we shared about a wig that had been donated from the St. Louis area with a special card from the family of the ovarian cancer warrior, Jan, who had worn it. Her widower Stewart and their children were not able to find a place to donate the wig near them, but they found us and asked us to make sure the lady who would receive the wig next would know how special Jan was to them and how special SHE now was to them as well.

Well, lo and behold, a young woman (also an ovarian cancer patient from St. Louis) who could not find a resource near her like the Shelly Sachs Wig Room, contacted us and drove all the way to Springfield to meet us. She ended up finding the absolute perfect fit in that very same wig which was exactly like her hair before chemo. It was an emotional and touching experience as staff member Ryanne gave her the card from the donating family and told her about the story behind it.

We hope this story encouraged you! Drop a comment to let Angelia know how amazing she looks in her new, and very special, hairdo.

Hello everyone on this beautiful crisp Tuesday morning!
I want to show this ever so beautiful wig that was donated to us by the Zeid family out of the St. Louis area. That is correct they shipped us their late wife and mother’s wig all the way here to help one of our next Cancer Warriors! Stewart reached out to SLOCA a little over a year after his wonderful Jan lost her fight with Ovarian Cancer, and they mentioned that we take wig donations.

That is when Stewart called, and I had the absolute pleasure to hear about his lovely wife Jan and how much this wig made her feel like herself. I know the feeling of just getting told you have “C” word is hard enough, but then losing your hair your identity? That is a whole other battle, and we want to take that struggle away. Just like Jan feeling beautiful in her wig during the not as fun times.

We want to honor her legacy of this amazing wig that they donated to us with a wonderful letter and a card for the next Warrior to carry on her journey with. We know this is not easy news to receive, but if we can take even one worry of struggle away from you it’s a free wig. So, let’s never forget the ones we lose or the new Warriors that walk through our door!

It's a long-overdue , but we have a special one for you! Vicky has known and worked with the Sachs family for 30 years, so when it came to her needing a wig during her cancer treatments, she knew exactly where to turn. She and her daughters had a wonderful time, and stopped to pay their respects by the photo of Shelly Sachs before heading out.

Kelly recently received 2 wigs she loves, and she reached back out to let us know how thankful she and her children were for their experience at her wig fitting. We adore her wig choices and think they make her beautiful personality shine that much more!
