It’s time for the Tumbler to tumble! Springfield’s 8,000-pound Tumbler sculpture will be repositioned for the fall equinox today at 4:30 p.m. on Park Central Square.

Created by Greek artist Aris Demetrios and installed in 1971, the sculpture was designed to be rotated with the changing seasons, giving viewers a new perspective throughout the year. The Tumbler began its seasonal tumbles in 2012 and has been repositioned every equinox and solstice since.
