“When you feel you can’t, God can.”

For the Smiths, special needs adoption wasn’t something they imagined would be part of their story.

But loving and caring for Arlyn has changed that. 💛

We captured more of their story in a longer video - link in the comments.

If you’re pregnant and considering adoption, you don’t have to have everything figured out before asking questions.

We’ll help you understand your options and what adoption can actually look like - so you’re not guessing.

If you want to talk it through, we’re here. 💛

Our appreciation for social workers doesn’t start and stop in March, but this month we want to say it out loud!

To the social workers on our team, thank you for the deeply relational work you do every day, walking closely with both birth and adoptive families with steadiness and compassion.

And to the social workers we partner with in hospitals across Ohio, thank you for the way you support patients and families.

We see how hard you all work, and we’re really grateful for you. 🤍

Pregnancy Resource Centers play such an important role in supporting women facing unexpected pregnancies. We’re grateful for the PRC leaders, staff, and volunteers who walk alongside women and families across our region every day.

Each year, Choosing Hope hosts a PRC Partner Day to bring these centers together. It’s a chance to step away from the day-to-day, share resources, and talk through the conversations PRCs are navigating with the women they serve.

This year’s free gathering will include a panel with a birth mom and adoptive mom, updates on adoption law and ethics, and time to connect with others doing this work.

If you’re part of a PRC and would like more information, feel free to send us a message.

Adoption takes a village. 💛 And we definitely saw that here.

Research shows that strong support systems are linked to healthier long-term outcomes for both adoptive parents and children. During every home study, our assessors take time to understand each family’s support system to ensure they have a solid circle of support for the lifelong journey ahead.

Today, we’re celebrating the C family. We’re so grateful for their endless love for their daughter and her birth family and for their steadfast “village” - who drove more than two hours for finalization, and has supported them every step of the way. 💛

We love “Adoption Is Both” because it helps children understand that adoption isn’t only happy or only sad. It can hold love, belonging, curiosity, and loss all at once.

Written by adoptee and social worker Elena Hall, this story gives families language that can grow with a child over time. 💛

Have you read this one with your child?

One of the greatest privileges of our work is seeing what happens over time.

When openness is approached thoughtfully and supported well, relationships can deepen in ways that bless everyone involved - birth parents, adopted families and most importantly, the child.

We’re so honored to walk alongside families as they build these connections. 💛

Adoption is meaningful - and the financial side can feel overwhelming.

Many families find adoption more manageable than expected when they understand the financial support options available, including adoption grants, tax credits, employer benefits, and fundraising.

In Ohio, families may qualify for programs like the Ohio Adoption Grant Program or national adoption grants through organizations such as Show Hope.

At Choosing Hope, we help families understand what financial resources may be available and walk alongside them with clarity, transparency, and care throughout the adoption process.

💬 Have questions about adoption costs or support options? Send us a message - we’re here to help.

We hear from many hopeful adoptive families each year who would like to adopt or want to know how to get started.

We’re so thankful for these inquiries and want to share what preparation looks like before licensure. Families who move forward complete an orientation and application, education around trauma, openness, and Ohio law, relationship-focused counseling, and a comprehensive home study.

This ensures that when adoption needs arise, there’s a diverse, prepared community of families ready to step in with stability and support.

We’re so grateful to walk alongside expectant parents, children, and families every step of the way!
