We have a new trail blockage between Mile Marker 19 & 20, south of Eudora Bridge (near Hobo Spring). An extremely large tree has fallen, blocking the entire trail. Please plan your trips accordingly as this obstruction covers a wide section. We are thankful for our neighbors and volunteers offering to help us with this and we will report back when it is clear. Thank you!

**UPDATE** The trail is passable between Springfield and Willard! Big thanks to Willard Parks and Springfield-Greene County Park Board for working extra hours and effort to get this section cleared. Please continue to use caution as there still may be debris scattered about the trail.
Hi Friends! Several trees down across the trail between Springfield and Willard, resulting in the trail being impassable. We will provide updates as we have them as crews with Ozark Greenways, Inc., Willard Parks, and Springfield-Greene County Park Board continue assessing the damage from this morning’s storm. Thank you and stay safe!

Please join us in welcoming Ben, Ozark Greenways, Inc.’s new Executive Director!🎉
Let’s give an Ozark Greenways welcome to our new Executive Director!
The Board of Directors of Ozark Greenways is pleased to announce Ben Tegeler as the
organization’s new Executive Director.
A longtime Springfield resident, Ben holds a degree in Community and Regional Planning
from Missouri State University and has contributed to shaping the region’s future through
his pivotal work on the Forward SGF Comprehensive Plan. His expertise in grant writing, community planning, and ecological design makes him well-positioned to advance Ozark Greenways’ mission and expand its impact across the region.
Ben and his family—avid bicyclists, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts—understand that
trails are more than just recreation. “Trails are essential infrastructure that connect
people to nature, each other, and the places they want to go,” said Ben. “Ozark Greenways represents a vision for a healthier, more connected, and regenerative future. I’m excited to work alongside the board, our partners, and the community to expand access to nature and build a trail system that enhances the quality of life for everyone in the region.”
Since its founding in 1991, Ozark Greenways has developed over 110 miles of trails, creating a dynamic system of greenways, waterways, and active transportation routes. With major projects like the Chadwick Flyer Trail, which will connect Springfield to Ozark, the organization continues to expand regional connectivity and outdoor access.
“Exciting things are on the horizon for Ozark Greenways,” said Danny Perches, Board
President. “Ben’s leadership, vision, and experience will be key to helping us achieve our
ambitious goals.”
With Ben at the helm, Ozark Greenways is poised to accelerate its impact, champion a more walkable and bikeable region, and inspire the next generation of trailblazers.
Stay tuned—it’s a journey we’re building together, one trail at a time.
