There was a period of time when I was falling in love with photography, that I said I would **never** photograph people. LOL. A good friend agreed to let me photograph her wedding so that her mother, who could not attend, would have some portraits. After that, I was hooked. But, as you know, I'm in love with nature. So when I had a session yesterday at my favorite gardens, I snuck over early, right after the rain, before my session, and breathed.

And then I sneezed a lot. Worth it.

Shoutout to my daughter for taking this when we were in the most amazing A-frame in Grand Lake, Colorado. Hey, hi, I'm Cerissa and I'm here to take yo picture, accept all the plastic ice cream scoops and burger patties your kiddos have to offer, chat with you about the state of things (fake [and real] crying included) and about which one Coachella set you'd have chosen this year and then also tell me which in 2014. That is all.

Before everything changes, and after, too. I love being here with you for a tiny bit of all of it.

I always go in with a handful of ideas I want to give a go -- there's a sketch book and photos of it in my phone, for every session. But I lean even harder into whatever's actually happening...the book reading, the cat snuggling, the drift toward outside.

A client told me once, she was looking for something between posed and candid land and felt that I was just that. I'd add: the posed side of my land is still really chill, more about where I'd like you to be, and always about two seconds from sliding back to candid land.

She showed up on her lunch break and left with images she's excited to use.
