Thrilled to share this public art piece with Eugene! It's so been the GREATEST joy working with Julie and pairing her artwork with videos of local waterways and the sounds of our poetry! 🟢💚🟢
“Biology Rising” is a visual art piece created by Julie Anderson, now captured in video and edited by Eric Braman Artistry. It explores natural symbiotic relationships in nature as a powerful lesson in community and the principle of interdependence, highlighting how each living thing within a natural system contributes to the health and balance of that system.
You can view a projection of this video after dusk every day from Sept. 27-Oct 6 at Downtown Riverfront Park. Look for it under the chrome SubSupra sculpture along the river, next to City Hall (500 E. 4th Ave.).
MEET THE ARTISTS: Bailey and Braman will be present at this location starting at 7pm during the Oct. 4 First Friday ArtWalk to meet the public for an informal Q&A about their work.
This piece is part of Cultural Currents, which allows artists to create temporary public art installations that advance representation and narratives for groups that have historically been excluded, misrepresented and/or marginalized in the City of Eugene. Learn more: eugene-or.gov/3934/Visual-Arts-Week.
Visual Arts Week is co-produced by Cultural Services, City of Eugene, Lane Arts Council, Maude Kerns Art Center.
