String, Leather Rose box. Dual 12K MGB pickups, 500k Volume/Tone/Switch. Gold hardware. Maple neck and headstock, rosewood fretboard. (May keep this one and sell off one of my daily players).

I am pleased to announce that I was able to place more instruments in another retail location… The Vintage on 65 in Urbana, Missouri !!! They are located at 118 S Dallas (the old Hubert Ford building) on Hwy 65 right across the street from the Old Wagon Wheel Flea Market. Thank you Terry Vaughn for your continued support ! Their hours are 10-5 Thursday thru Monday ! I have 4 CBG’s along with some other refurbished instruments for sale.

#70 is complete! Interesting history on this box… it is a 1935 Muriel Senators box that was given to my neighbor by her grandfather when she was just a child. The box was in bad shape and had been used as a keepsake box for many, many years. She gave it to me to use for a CBG. After careful light cleaning, stabilizing the paper and wood with superglue and lacquer, I was able to create this 3 string CBG. Tuned to GDG, it sounds great. I included a reverb spring in the box, piezo pickup with oak neck, gold tuners and gold screen sound holes. Upon her return from a short vacation I presented her grandfather’s 90 year old cigar box back to her as a family keepsake that can be passed down to her children…. Some boxes are not meant to be sold and played, they are to be cherished….Thank you Rose for letting me preserve a small piece of your family’s history.

After a long winter break (shop is not heated), I am back to building. #65 was a total flop. But #66 is done and in the books! A 4 string 25.5” scale dual MGB Lucky 13 pickups, oak neck, composite fretboard and MGB telecaster style
controls. I had been saving this Cohiba box to build a sister to my daily player. It has stronger pickups so is a good complement for my personal collection. Will be building more soon. #62 in the books. Pretty standard electric/acoustic 3 string. MGB fretboard and electronics. This is my first full “C” neck (see previous post) and will be how I make my necks from now on. Feels great, plays great! This one is spoken for, a gift for a friend’s grandson. Hope he enjoys it.

I am trying my hand at my first “C-shaped” neck. Purchased the “Fender” C Router bit, and slowly took it down. Fits great in my hand. I think this may be my new way of building necks…

#60 is complete. Custom Ordered. This is a hard to find box that was purchased by my nephew who wanted a 4 string electric/acoustic guitar. Quite the challange to build as the nose is 3” of solid wood as is the 9” of the tail. Shout out to Robert Byrd’s Cigar Box Guitars for posting a video on how to build this particular box. Oak neck, walnut headstock, 12K MGB ghosted pickup. 500k MGB volume and tone controls. All gold colored hardware. At least this one is staying in the family! Enjoy Liam!
