A powerful sermon on church hurt!
May 24, 2026 Worship Service - "A Faith That Won't Go Barefoot" - Scot Loyd Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

This Memorial Day, we remember that peace is costly.
We honor those who served, those who never came home, and the families who still carry both pride and grief.
But remembrance also calls us deeper.
Not just to wave flags, but to ask hard questions about war, justice, sacrifice, and the kind of world we are building for future generations.
As followers of Jesus, we believe every human life bears the image of God. Every human life.
So today we hold gratitude and lament together.
We give thanks for courage.
We pray for peace.
And we recommit ourselves to becoming people who heal more than harm, love more than fear, and build bridges instead of barriers.
“Blessed are the peacemakers.” ~ Jesus
Happy Memorial Day.
May we remember well. 🇺🇸

Today our church unveiled a new logo created by Daniel Walden.
Last fall, several logo concepts were presented to the congregation. We listened carefully to the feedback, reflected together, and arrived at this final design. We’re genuinely excited about what it represents.
A few meaningful elements behind the design:
• The blue matters. Blue became an unofficial color of the Civil Rights Movement, and given Springfield’s history, we wanted to honor that legacy and ongoing work.
• The dove symbolizes peace. It reflects our belief that we are called to be people of peace as we move outward into our city and community.
• The steeple stands in the foreground while the State Capitol rests in the background. This subtle detail reminds us that church and state are not the same thing, and that we reject Christian Nationalism.
• The logo also reflects our identity as an American Baptist church, not Southern Baptist. That distinction is important to who we are and the values we hold.
A logo is never just a logo. It tells a story about who you are, what you value, and the kind of future you hope to help build. We’re grateful for this next chapter.

Different generations. Shared humanity. The same hope.
At Central Baptist Church, we are creating space for people to belong, question, heal, grow, and simply show up as themselves.

This Sunday, we are starting a six week sermon series called, "Yoked". A series about trading the weight we carry for the way of Jesus. Not escape. Not denial. But learning to carry life differently. Hope to see you this weekend.
