Parking for the Illinois State Fair at Post 32 is one of our biggest fund raisers of the year. The Fair runs August 7-17 this year. We REALLY need help. Please consider volunteering to help with parking this year. Shifts are not long, and it is not strenuous work. There are openings at various times and dates. There are sign-up sheets at the bar, and you can also call the post for information. 217-523-3415.

Springfield Post #32 Past Commander Loren Barnes will be laid to rest at Camp Butler National Cemetery on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 2 p.m.

Springfield Unit #32 Past President Caroline Hodson will be laid to rest at Camp Butler National Cemetery on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 12 Noon.

These two members of our Legion family devoted countless hours to our American Legion Family during their many years of service to our organizations. Our deepest sympathy to their families as they move on to Post and Unit everlasting.

May God Bless their Souls and their families.

"In Springfield, American Legion Post 32 teamed with Camp Butler National Cemetery and SCHEELS for a Flag Day event that encouraged the public to bring in their unserviceable flags. The first 200 individuals or families who brought in one were given a free American-made 3’ x 5’ flag. A flag-retirement ceremony followed and was conducted by members of Post 32 and American Legion Riders Chapter 32".

Respect for Old Glory on full display during Flag Day events Across the nation, American Legion posts serve as locations where used U.S. flags can be dropped off and retired in a dignified manner. And that service was on full display this year on Flag Day.

Please spread the word to all of your veteran friends. Post 32 will have a table at this event. There will be a ton of good information and resources for veterans.

American Legion Post 32/The Mess Hall Restaurant is in need of a cook ASAP. Our Becky Harris is going to move on to a new opportunity on Feb 18 and her last day with us is Feb 15. If you know of someone interested, please have them contact us ASAP at this email [email protected] or 217/523-3415. Could even be a part time for someone, Wednesday – Friday of each week.
