The Serve Illinois Commission is a 40 member, bi-partisan board appointed by the Governor. Its mission is to improve Illinois communities by enhancing volunteerism and instilling an ethic of service throughout the State. The Commission is accomplishing this mission through the support of local community-based efforts to enhance volunteer opportunities and the administration of Illinois' AmeriCorps

Down in Dolton, Illinois, the South Suburban Recovery Group is ready for disaster after joining one of our disaster volunteer trainings where they learned how to conduct a mucking and gutting disaster operation. We proudly introduce one of leaders, Davida Fanniel, and highlight her work with the Civic Education Symposium hosted at CTU Headquarters. The symposium was an overwhelming success filled with meaningful dialogue, collaboration, learning, and inspiration. We are already looking forward to the next convening — a great time was truly had by all! We also thank Jake Sapir and Dr. Asif Wilson.
