Well friends, I did a thing. A thing that you don’t do until after frost.
I had to rip up my main zinnia bed. The damn thrips won. I still have a couple smaller beds to help me finish the season but this one hurts. I will remove landscape fabric and plant cover crop to get life back in this empty strip and rebuy seeds next year. I couldn’t harvest any from here like years past.
Despite popular opinion, flower farming isn’t all joy and happiness.

The garden has made a ton of bouquets this week. I love the earthly charm of this one.
Felt creative today.
My flowers are grown organically in my yard. They experience wind, sunshine, clouds, pollinators, bugs and the unpredictable weather of the Ozarks. And yeah, a bug may pop out of one of your bouquets. It’s ok, just let it outside.
Friends please buy local. If my flowers aren’t your thing, that’s ok, just buy local. Here’s a shout out to a couple of my flower friends who also grow, check em out. Becky Morrow Riley or Hubbard Home & Farm

Grabbed a neighbor kiddo and released 1000 lady bugs to the garden. Thrips are killing me this year. Eat up ladies. 🐞
