Say what you will about the president (and trust me, I have) he's gotten people interested in voting again. This the line in front and behind me.

You know what day it is, right?
So stand up and be counted.

“I’m a big believer in local politics and localism, local control. It’s a Missouri value,” Goddard said. “But the worst time to have local control is in a time of crisis, particularly of this magnitude. I really do believe that the only way you can get ahead of these things is to have more blanket approaches.”
October was Greene County and SW MO's worst month for COVID-19. How did we get here? A News-Leader analysis showed that a patchwork of regulations has allowed the virus to spread with few checks since June.

Stolen from the Missouri Rural Crisis Center:
Amendment 3 and foreign corporate ownership of Missouri farmland may seem unrelated, but they're not.
Against the will of the vast majority of Missourians the Missouri legislature voted to allow 300,000 acres of Missouri farmland to be bought and owned by foreign corporations.
How are they able to so blatantly go against the will of Missouri voters and their constituents?
One problem was Missouri's former redistricting process was written by the very politicians and corporate lobbyists that benefit, where politicians rarely had to worry about having their records examined or what their voters wanted because they sit in intentionally created safe seats that rarely see a serious challenger--that will only get worse if we allow them to pass Amendment 3, a gerrymandering scheme not seen since the 1970s.
Next Tuesday, vote NO on Amendment 3.
Foreign ownership and Amendment 3 are both bad ideas As a family farmer here in Missouri, I’ve seen first-hand how complicated politics surrounding agriculture policy can get, and the way things interconnect, even when, at first glance, they look unrelated.

Not going to lie. Pretty proud of this one.
My wife, two of our boys and our granddaughter went to the Lawrence County Democrats Central Committee event a week or two ago. Several other candidates were there, including Nicole Galloway and Yinka Faleti For Missouri.
When we had our parent-teacher conference for Little'un this week, his kindergarten teacher showed us this picture.
In his own words, "Wienie roast Dad's political thing." (He added a "spas" because he realized he ran the words together.) I'm glad he had fun.
BTW, "Dad's political thing," is how most of the things I go to are described in my house, usually with a bit of an eye roll.
I don't mention the presidential race much because you likely already know where I stand.
But I don't understand why some folks in our area think this man is on their side.
He is not.
Can you tell I'm tired of the deliberate misinformation on Amendment 3?
Vote no on Amendment 3.

Gene Weingarten is technically a humor columnist.
But when he does serious, like he does here, he weaves together disparate threads into something thought-provoking.
In a divided country, it feels like hatred for each other has become one more American value. Gene Weingarten asks: Can we ever heal? From discussions with the man who killed Osama bin Laden to Nixon’s White House counsel John Dean, a soul-searching exploration of the delicate path forward no matter who wins.

Turns out I have a few critics on the Facebook forums.
I’m angry, arrogant and I want to raise taxes, they say.
I actually can’t argue with any of that.
My critics are correct Yes, I’m angry. I wouldn’t be running if I were happy with what’s going on in my state. And I point the finger directly at the Republican party that uses its chokehold on power for its own benefit.
